FFXI Install, move to Steam? O.o

So I have FFXI installed and all the expansions, however I do not have an account. So I purchased the Ultimate Edition through Steam. However, Steam wants to download all the files again which takes ages. How can I move the files I already have into Steam so that it finds them and lets my bypass the downloading? I know Steam can be a pain...

Ok cool I found that but it seems Steam has them structured differently. All my folders are named after each expansion with appropriate data inside while Steam just has a bunch of ROM folders. Any ideas?

No clue on that. My FFXI client was always a series of ROM# folders.

It sounds like you're lying about your own files. You should double click the appropriate .exes to properly install the game and then move them to the Steam folders.

Start Download > Codes > Use the already installed XI. Pause at 1%, and don't delete local files. Deleting local files will remove all registry entries for the currently installed XI and make it unplayable.
