July has killed 2 Franchies, Nashville & CBJ. Lol.

That took EA a long time

Also, CBJ isn't "ruined." They were a fucking joke with Nash, nowhere to go but up. Getting that contract off the books and Erixon is a hell of a start. Seriously, getting fucked in the draft lottery the past few years has been worse for the franchise than today.
Yeah, but they added the lottery so teams didn't purposely finish last place in a mentality of "Fuck yeah, Alex Daigle!"
Here we just lose games, not lotteries.
Also the Wings' supposed package was Franzen, Filppula, Prospect + 1st. Good thing Columbus went with the Rangers...?
Probably cause Nash has a longer shelf life left in his career than Franzen and the Swedish Connection in Detroit is evaporating with Lidstrom gone and Holmstrom weighing retirement this offseason or next year (hes 39).
Because he either plays out of his mind awesome or like complete shit and the latter was far more common than the former this year. He is one of the few pieces that other teams might be interested in that the Wings would allow to leave in a trade. In reality he is probably more valuable on the team than leaving in a trade, because his cap hit is under 4m and he has roughly mirrored Nash's production in the past 2 years, and he has a stupidly long contract that probably turns a lot of teams off on him.
I also think CBJ didn't want to see Nash in their division against them; just a thought.
I'm unsure why CBJ didn't get more than this. Most likely the teams he listed as trade destinations handcuffed Howson, but still, that return is pathetic.
Considering the 1st rounder next year is likely to be between pick 20-30 yeah kinda sucks for the Jackets.
Howson wasn't going to trade him to the West it seems. That couldn't have helped.
Obviously we have to wait and see on those draft picks, but that's brutal.Out:
Jeff Carter
Rick Nash
Jakub Voracek
Antoinne Vermette
8th pick (Couturier)
68th pick (Cousins)
3rd round pick
Steven Delisle
In:
Jack Johnson
Brandon Dubinsky
Artem Anisimov
Tim Erixon
McElhinney
2 1st rounders
2nd rounder
Torts just did a radio interview:
-He's very sad to see Dubi leave. Says he was a pain in the ass when he first came up, but really matured. Dubi was a player who came up everytime a team called.
-Thinks Erixon could be a great player in the league, but hasn't "seen it" from him. Obviously Torts not being big on Tim's game helped the move.
-Kreider was never an option to be traded, as we all knew.
-Good things to say about MDZ. They want to add offense to their blueline, so trading MDZ isn't/wasn't an option. Had a good bounce back year until the final few games, thinks he'll learn from it.
-Prust was "promised things" by FA suitors, which Torts warned him to be wary of. Probably ice time.
My favourite part of this Nash trade is Tim Erixon being involved. The kid whined his way out of Calgary to get traded to the Rangers, only to get sent off to Columbus. Good for him.
