Speaking of hockey inside a pool, a pretty intense storm passed through western PA yesterday and I was stuck playing summer deck hockey in it. For about 3 minutes it got intense enough that if you were driving, it'd be the intensity where your highest windshield wiper blade setting wouldn't be enough and you'd have to pull over. There was so much water in everyone's eyes and so much rain in the air between you and the other side of the rink, and it was so dark, that even though the pucks bright orange, a couple times everyone lost track of where it was because no one could really open their eyes and see. The water was falling faster than the deck could drain too, so until it slowed down in the second period and the deck could start to drain the water adequately, the water was starting to pool up on the deck and got about an inch and a half deep (higher than the base of your shoes) and the puck wouldn't move anywhere, it was like having to chip the puck out of the deep rough in golf where ever you wanted it to go. The refs were trying to hide in the penalty boxes (although they were still getting soaked cause it was blowing every which way) and wouldn't come out for the couple faceoffs we were set to have, they just told the team in the attacking zone to back off and let the defending team start play with the puck. Pretty fucking epic.
