Josh Harding re-signs with the Wild for 3 years.
WHY IS THERE NOT MORE MOCK DRAFT POSTS. Am I the only person who gets excited by the Draft here? haha
Yeah, mock drafts are only fun if it's on TV and you get to watch Bob McKenzie argue with whoever else is doing it, why they're wrong.
The actual draft gets kinda meh after the 10th pick or so, just because by then it's been a few hours, and it's almost like the 12 days of Christmas how they loop back after every pick. Or how no matter what, it'll be like "With the 2073rd pick... wait, we'd first like to say congratulations to the Los Angeles Ki" *Shout from the crowd* "Fucking pick already!"
The monotony is always broken by around pick #7, when Gary Bettman waddles his way up to the stage, and it usually goes something like:
*Boo*
Bettman: We hahve a trahde to annawns
*Crowd errupts*
Bettman: The Mawntreawl Canadiens trahde their 6th round pick to the Flyers for their 93rd round pick in 2015
*Crowd goes dumb*
*Bettman trollfaces his way down the podium stairs*
Ray Shero says point blank Jordan Staal will not be traded and all attempts will be made to re-sign him. I'm happy about it, but then again if he walks the Pens will have absolutely nothing to show for it.
Quick who's won a championship Pittsburgh or Nashville?Offense wins championships. Just ask Pitts..whoops, well just ask Phill...nevermind.
If your definition of defense includes the goalie and the forecheck, it does win championships. Good forechecking is hugely underrated imo and can stifle any offense.Channeling my inner Sepukku on this one.
Karlsson signed a 7 year deal with Ottawa.
Bye Martin and Lovejoy.
I cannot bring myself to believe there is a team in the NHL dumb enough to take Ben Lovejoy. I expect him to be buried in the minors til his contract is up and from there spend the rest of his career in the euro leagues.
But by all means I'd even settle for a 7th rd pick for Lovejoy.
E. Kane for Lovejoy.
So whats this shit I hear about Canadians are acting like the 200th anniversery of the War of 1812 is some monumental heroic event? Boring war, comparatively insignificant to America's wars before and after it, comparatively insignificant to the Napoleonic Wars going on during the time period, low casualties, low impact on world or even country outcomes. Canada sucks, its pretty sad when you gotta dig 200 years to a war fought by native americans and British troops that basically came to a stalemate, just to find some excuse for war heroics.
How can you not beat Canada?
New rules changes announced.
The penalty shot for covering the puck in the crease is very interesting. Depends how often it gets called.LAS VEGAS (June 19, 2012)—The National Hockey League’s Board of Governors, at its annual June meeting, today approved changes to two rules.
Rule 67 – Handling Puck implements a minor penalty for use of the gloved hand to “conceal” the puck or prevent an opponent from playing it. Rule 76 – Face-Off implements a minor penalty for a player taking a face-off using his hand to direct the puck.
Rule 67 - Handling Puck
67.2 Minor Penalty – Player
A player shall be permitted to catch the puck out of the air but must immediately place it or knock it down to the ice. If he catches it and skates with it, either to avoid a check or to gain a territorial advantage over his opponent, a minor penalty shall be assessed for “closing his hand on the puck.”
New, approved wording in bold:
Any time a player places his hand over the puck while it is on the ice in order to conceal it from or prevent an opponent from playing the puck, a minor penalty shall be assessed for “closing his hand on the puck.”
When this is done in his own team’s goal crease area, a penalty shot shall be assessed (67.4) or a goal awarded (67.5).
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who, while play is in progress, picks up the puck off the ice with his hand.
Rule 76 - Face-off
76.4 Procedure - Centers:
Both players facing-off are prohibited from batting the puck with their hand in an attempt to win the face-off. Any attempt by either center to win the face-off by batting the puck with their hand shall result in a minor penalty. This penalty shall be announced as a “Minor Penalty for Delay of Game - Face-off Violation.” Once the face-off is deemed complete (and winner of the face-off is clear), hand passes shall be enforced as per Rule 79.
