Really? Because I never get to watch them around here unless they're playing the Lightning or in the playoffs. Please point me to these magical TV channels that show every Pens game that's on my basic cable TV lineup.

He's in Canada, they get a lot more games on national TV, and therefore a lot more Pens games I'm guessing. In the states, NBCSN, NHLN, and NBC put them on a decent amount, but they spread it across most major market teams pretty well. Actually thought I saw Philly and Detroit the most last season, maybe it's just me.

I always felt like American hockey fans are the most sympathetic Americans towards Canada (even moreso than the "OMG YOU GUYS HAVE FREE HEALTHCARE" crowd).

In reality, we only have 3 dedicated channels for hockey, CBC, TSN and Sportsnet (at least for the Flames and Canucks anyway). The nice thing though, between the three of them, last year for example every single Flames game, all 82, were broadcast on TV somehow. Sportsnet has their regular channel for sports highlights and misc. sports, but they also have dedicated Sportsnet Flames, or Sportsnet Oilers, or Sportsnet etc etc channels too that play a ton of games all season round.

TSN tends to do more of the big matchups every year, like, they'll have a Pittsburgh vs Philly game, or Canucks vs Blackhawks or etc etc, big rivalry games or games that will draw in a decent viewership but not necessarily Canadian oriented always.

And CBC is CBC, they only play games on Saturdays or the playoffs and sometimes Sundays or Holidays on rare occasions, and they always involve Canadian teams.

Lately though, NBC has been broadcasting games in Canada too. But it's pretty similar to TSN in what games they play. But from what I've noticed anyway, and I could be wrong, while TSN plays games throughout the week, NBC only airs games during the weekend, and usually not during primetime hours.

Not for hockey reasons, but I was fairly close to moving out to Vancouver for school a few years ago. I'd still love to live there too, it's fucking beautiful. Do want.

I am still mad that Comcast took away NHL Network and put it on their highest tiered cable package. I'm in the same boat as you, don't feel like paying extra money just for that channel, and maybe Fuse, which would be included in the highest package. F'n Comcast.

I'm just glad the Oilers (and I'm sure Vaspinne feels the same way towards the Flames) don't have their 10 ~ 12 games per year that are PPV anymore.

a) I'm not gonna pay $9.99 or $12 or whatever it was for a regular season game.
b) The way the Oilers played a few years ago, they'd have better luck transmitting the game on all channels, and making people pay to take it off.

Yes, but it's mostly for the hockey knowledgeable press. Can't stand ESPN and local news coverage of hockey.

I don't mind it in DC, since between Comcast Sportsnet Washington and NBC/Sports Network I get all 82 Caps games. The only downside is I don't get NBCSN or NHL-N at work, so when I'm stuck here nights and weekends I miss a few games. What really hurts is watching other teams, I'd say I only watched about one game a week out-of-market last season. CSN-W will occasionally air Flyers games, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when they do. For me, that's what I miss the most about ESPN carrying hockey, every provider has ESPN and ESPN2 in their basic package.
