Offseason timidness. I'll get angry again when the season starts. I've seen too much Luongo talk recently too, so that's probably clouding my "what's consistent and what's not" judgement.

I keep hearing rumors of Edmonton/Buffalo making a trade. I doubt there's anything to it, but of course Gagner's name comes up.
Between Hodgson, Gerbe, Ennis, I highly doubt Buffalo is making an army of Smurfs at C.

Maybe if he can make it through a season where he's not playing a dozen extra games thanks to the Olympics and a backup no one trusts, followed by a season where he got bulldozed by Milan Lucic and his defensemen played like ass. I think Izzy complained more about Tyler Myers than Miller last season. I'd best Miller's a finalist for a Vezina again before it's all said and done.

Then take away the players we drafted in the first round along the way and we'd still be left with a solid line of Vanek/Horcoff/Hemsky.
No thanks, I'd rather struggle while watching Jordan/Taylor/Nuge, than have one line of Vanek/Sloth/Alice.
Besides, even if we DID pick up Vanek that summer, it's not as if that'd help attract players to Edmonton. You wouldn't have players thinking "The Rangers are throwing stupid money at me, but that Vanek character may be on to something. And 40 below from November to April sounds pretty appealing. Pack your things wifey, we're going to Alberta!"

Yes but I doubt Tambilini and Lowe would have gone the rebuild route with no 1st rounders. They'd probably be making aggressive trades and sitting around the #9-12 spot for the past few years.
