So some woman said Doughty raped her back in March. the DA threw out the case and no charges will be made due to lack of evidence and major credibility issues with the woman.

L.A. Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is being investigated for rape following an incident back in March -- when a woman accused him of forcibly having sex with her -- but TMZ has learned, the D.A. will be rejecting the case.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the woman in question filed a police report following the March 1st encounter -- claiming she bumped into Doughty at a bar in Hermosa Beach early that morning, and he asked her to come back to his place.

We're told ... the alleged victim told police she loudly rejected Doughty in front of his teammates -- calling him an "a**hole" -- and his teammates laughed.

Sources say the girl told police Doughty was embarrassed following the diss -- then wrangled her into a cab, took her home, and raped her.

The girl said she took a cab back to her place after the sex and later went to the hospital -- where police interviewed her and collected rape evidence.

The case has been under investigation since -- but police sources tell us, it will be rejected by the D.A. due to lack of evidence. We're told law enforcement has "major issues" with the woman's credibility.

Bottom line -- Doughty will be off the hook.

Calls to Doughty's camp were not returned.

Hasnt that always been a penalty shot if its in the crease? I've recalled penalty shots in the past for players covering it up in there. I think the change is automatic goal is a possibility now.

The rule is in soccer too, in a form, any handball in the box is a red card. I only know this cause when I was ~8 years old playing youth co-ed soccer (soccer is huge amongst youth in Pittsburgh, like every kid plays til theyre 10-12) and some girl on the other team stopped the ball in the box with her hands cause it was about to be a goal and the ref red carded her and made her team play the rest of the game 1 person short and not a single kid knew of the rule and even the parents/coach on our team were like "Really? Ejecting an 8 year old and make her leave the field area for a handball?" Like she wasn't even allowed to stay and watch the rest of the game, from our sidelines or the stands.... now granted her understandably irate parent wasn't helping her welcome...

Those face off rules are new? I don't know why it would be a problem if a player swats the puck back with his hand. I've seen players do it for years and never heard a complaint.

I will give Canada one thing, they have the hottest women. My LS just reached a consensus on it; I cited Carly Rae Jepsen, the chick from Girl Next Door who was with Phaneuf/Avery, Anna Kendrick who is from Maine and thats basically Canada, that one poll that had Windsor-London area of Ontario as the hottest girls on the planet area, and the one chick who ended up being the killer in Scream 4 whos name I forget but I remember looking up her wiki and seeing she was from Toronto. Also the girl from Lights.

Where as my American list has Anna Kendrick cause Maine is actually America, Christina Augilera from my hometown, Taylor Swift from my home town's region (even if she moved to Nashville at like 10 and acts like she was born and raised there), and Natalie Portman even though she is actually Israeli; shes American enough to count for here.

A human being died in the parking lot of my work for lack of a medicine they couldn't afford reliably on a consistent basis, I read today my country has a ratio of 88 guns per 100 people (and thats only known & registered guns), both Presidential nominees have no clue what they're doing and my governor of my state has cut education funding (at both schoolchildren age and university level) 3 straight years totaling over 50% of funding from 2008 for primary schools and 75% for university level all while claiming "the children are our future" as part of his membership to the 'family values' party.

The penalty shot for covering the puck in the crease is very interesting. Depends how often it gets called.

This was always a penalty shot if you covered the puck with your hand in the crease. The awarded goal is new, I'm not sure what the clause for that is though.

Yeah, I remember Lewis of the Kings getting a penalty shot against Ottawa this year because it was ruled Phillips covered the puck in the crease (he didn't though)

I'd assume a goal is awarded if the refs feel the puck was going to go over the line but a player covers it up.

Huh I dont think I can recall ever seeing a penalty shot awarded for covering the puck in the crease. I can't fathom very many cases where a ref will award a goal in that situation either. So the change is almost meaningless.

The covering the puck in the crease has been in place, always just been a penalty shot if the ref sees it, never been a chance at a goal though. Before, iirc, you could swat it out of the crease with your hand but if you grabbed it or placed your glove on top of it, is where you got into the area for a penalty shot.
