k made my team.
Huh? Was agreeing with you. I think the owners aren't unified, and the rich majority is the one's calling the shots despite other teams disagreeing. You took that way out of context, but ok.
All I know is, if there's a lockout, as soon as the NHL returns I'm losing my fucking voice during the first game. And no matter what, I'll be going to the home opener.
Who was Mulletville Musketeers in ESPN last year? I forget.
BK I deleted Vasilk as a co-owner of your ESPN team since he hasn't posted on BG since May, so ITS ALL YOURS AGAIN.
Mulletville was Ace I believe.
Uh hate to break it to you...

You got a link to that?
Also Palin I sent you PM.
Ok maybe not full season but Bettman is not the kind to do shit in half

Maybe we should make another thread for this but for now will put this here.
Alright, ESPN is full for now at 14 teams. Might have some more openings if Breg and Ace (who I haven't heard from yet) don't want to play this season, but I have a feeling they'll be back, so moving forth. If anyone wanted in who didn't get in, we'll prob still have room in the eventual Roto league I get around to setting up.
Now that we have the owners in place, let's talk about how we can tweak the points system from last season to make it better. Here's the values as they were:
Some initial observations from last season. I thought Goaltending was a little underpowered, and on half the nights ended up hurting you more than it helped. Raising the points for Wins to 10 or even 20 could help with that. Maybe less points for a loss?Skating
Goals (G) 5 Assists (A) 2
Penalty Minutes (PIM) 0.5 Game-Winning Goals (GWG) 5
Faceoffs Won (FOW) 0.2 Faceoffs Lost (FOL) -0.2
Shots on goal (SOG) 0.2 Hits (HIT) 0.5
Blocked Shots (BLK) 0.5 Power Play Points (PPP) 3
Short Handed Points (SHP) 7
Goaltending
Wins (W) 5 Losses (L) -3
Goals Against (GA) -1 Saves (SV) 0.2
Shutouts (SO) 7 Overtime Losses (OTL) -1
Or would you guys rather having all skaters potentially cause you to lose points, and include +-? That way skaters could hurt your overall points for a night instead of just Goalies.
Also I think Assists could potentially go up to 3, and maybe drop GWG a little bit? It seemed last season you didn't have a chance unless you had a few pure goal scorers lighting it up every night.
I know Ishido and a few others had some suggestions about making the points system better, so feel free to fire away.
A lockout by definition is when the owners refuse to pay the players for their services once their CBA runs out. All it means is that they won't be continuing on under the old CBA while they negotiate a new one (since it gives the PA leverage to strike when the time is good for them). That language just means the owners are going to "strike" on their terms, not the players.Gary Bettman has given the NHLPA a deadline of Sept. 15 for a new collective bargaining agreement or the players will be locked out. A lockout doesn't have to be for a full year either btw. A lockout just begins once the old CBA is up without a new one negotiated, and the owners shutting their doors.
Just sayinf I really four Betmann will go beyond sept 15
Skating
Goals (G) 5 Assists (A) 2 - Good to me
Penalty Minutes (PIM) 0.5 Game-Winning Goals (GWG) 5 - I'd lower GWG, I still don't get why fantasy leagues give points for PIM, but whatever.
Faceoffs Won (FOW) 0.2 Faceoffs Lost (FOL) -0.2 - It's almost not even worth giving points/taking points for Face-Offs since the majority of the time it's 50/50 +/- 5%
Shots on goal (SOG) 0.2 Hits (HIT) 0.5 - Hits might be a bit overvalued, but it looks fine
Blocked Shots (BLK) 0.5 Power Play Points (PPP) 3 - Looks good
Short Handed Points (SHP) 7 - Looks good.
Goaltending
Wins (W) 5 Losses (L) -3 - Could put wins at 15 and losses at -5 to make goaltending matter a bit more.
Goals Against (GA) -1 Saves (SV) 0.2 - Looks good.
Shutouts (SO) 7 Overtime Losses (OTL) -1 - OTL at -2 to compensate for the raise to -5 for a loss.
Does the FHL actually works if theres no season, i doubt it but still
I don't think so. We'd be stuck with the NHL2k3 league, and if there's a lockout, I might not buy it.
Fantasy leagues give point for PIMS to give some value to goon/grinders. Esp those who can put up like 50 points and 100+ pims.
On one hand I like PIMs/hits being where they are because it gives you an alternate way to fill out some spots when there aren't any worthy skill players left but at the same time I feel like 0.3 points for each might be better for what we are trying to accomplish?
For goalies I would go with 8 (maybe 9) points for a win, 4 for a loss. -1.5 for GA, 0.3 for a save. 7 for a SO, -2 for OTL. Goalies weren't far enough behind to make HUGE boosts to everything. Also putting lots of points into wins and not saves makes it so people draft goalies based on team, not on player.
Other than that GWGs lowered to 3 possibly, because in non-1-goal games the GWG isn't a terribly huge thing. Breaking a tie is big but many GWGs are the result of a late garbage goal pulling the differential to 2 or something.
I almost want to open a can of worms and suggest something like .1 point per minute of ice time as well, but it would end up not being a huge difference I think. It would make defensemen slightly more valuable.
