Points for ice time is a really good idea actually.
Points for ice time is a really good idea actually.
ESPN doesn't have icetime minutes as a stat, only Shifts, which would accomplish the same thing.'
If the goal is to make D-men more valuable, we can add D-men Points as a stat category. Make them an extra 2 points or something.
For record here's the stat categories we didn't use last season:
+-
Points
PPG
PPA
SHG
SHA
Shifts
Hat Tricks
D-man Points
Games Started
Shots Against
Empty Net Goals Against
I like the idea of bumping up Saves points value to make Goalies better. Helps out on teams that regularly get out shot too, since they usually have higher GAAs and lose more games. Makes goalies like Quick (regular season), Smith, and Lehtonen more valuable compared to guys like Fleury or Schneider who could get a win with 15 saves.
I personally like Hits and PIMs where they are because in later rounds or deep into a season you can get good value from guys like Dorsett or Matt Martin. Plus making guys like Ott, Niel, and Burrows real fantasy values. Then you get boosts to guys like Perry and Hartnell, making them actually considerable compared to higher scoring snipers. I think it's a good dynamic instead of "pick the guy left with the highest points total in sequential order" every round.
I will watch this video everyday until the lockout ends
Ah, I was reading the wrong chart for what stats could be applied I guess. Shifts could possibly work, although it would add ~200 points to most players (at .1 per, which I assume is the minimum) it would be another thing to look at and gauge, and there are some less valuable players that would contribute more to a team via that.
D-man points isn't bad but I feel like it just adds value to already good defensemen while leaving others behind. It might not be bad to give like .5 for that though.
THE HANDSOME HAS LANDED
I got a bit of a dumb question, mostly because I got confused during the 04/05 version, and the 90's one I was too young to really understand - But, in the event of a full season lockout, does the lost year count towards a year of a contract even though they aren't paid, or does it pick up in 2013/14 as per 2012/13 terms?
I believe the year doesnt count against the contract.

I always wondered that, like say all the people that signed 1 year deals this summer (ie: Jagr, Gagner etc) or people in the last year of their deals, whether they were free agents as per usual next summer, or if it was like "Nope, you still owe us a year of service." type thing.
Jagr pending, since I dunno if he'd play after a year off - assuming he doesn't sign back in the KHL to stay in game shape
I don't agree with that. Part of the reason I picked certain Centers was because they had great FO% as well as goals/assists numbers and it netted me some good points all season. Some nights players like Bergeron and Toews would net me 5 pts on just FO wins. GWG being lowered is good though, 3 sounds good to me and a boost to Assists would be good. I don't like most of the other stats, we had PPP and SHP so I don't see a reason to add PPG/PPA/SHG/SHA.
Hat Tricks could be a cool bonus but make it low if you do, 2 extra points maybe imo. I wish they had Gordies, that would be cool. imo, +- is a dumb stat period. DMen seemed to be pretty under valued last year, I basically picked up several off FA and swapped them around all year. I wouldn't raise Goalie wins too high though, 15 is kinda crazy, 10 would be the highest but that still seems high to me. I think saves could be raised a little though.
Also, Breg said he was down for all leagues, unless I missed something after I quoted him as my reply.
In office pools etc we did, we kept it pretty simple, but as far as Goalies went, we treated it like you would for teams. 2pts Win, 0pts Loss, 1pt SO loss. I think it was 5pts for a shutout, but it might've been 3. But other than that was just a straight Goals/Assists for Dmen/Forwards.
Mind you, it was just a pretty basic "Pick 20 players and a goalie. No player can go twice." and setup a draft order yadda yadda. It wasn't as if we had it setup on a site to keep track of random things like +/- or "Offensive zone faceoffs won that led to a tic-tac-toe passing play on a 5-on-3 powerplay during a road game in December."
So um do we just add players to our team, or we get a drafting?
Two questions about that image:
1. Is that dog in a garbage bag?
2. Are those Swedish meatballs?
Just found out sportsnet has a deal with the ahl to televise more games if there is a lockout. I'm officially a Chicago wolves fan!! Woooooo!
Landeskog the new Captain of the Avs - youngest Captain in NHL history.
Luongo says Florida is his preferred destination.
They have Theodore there for 1 more year, just re-signed Clemmensen for 2 more. I can't see either heading back to Vancouver for Luongo, and besides, what does Van think they'll get from FLA when the Panthers are in no hurry to rush out for a goalie, and knowing that's where Luongo wants to go, so hands are tied?
Luongo to Florida for a pair of John Madden's game-worn skates?
It's not like Florida is gonna part ways with Weiss, Fleischmann or Versteeg easily. So that leaves... here have Brian Campbell or Jovo-cop back again? Nah, not gonna happen. Vancouver would be crazy to ask for prospect Jonathan Huberdeau, so I guess Luongo will either be back in Vancouver, or Florida has all the power in any potential trade.
Double post ftw?
Sorry about that. >.<
Only way Luongo is going to Florida is if Gilles is willing to get ripped off. Tallon just doesn't need to give up blue chip prospects for a 7 year deal that will block Markstrom.
