Hmmm, well. they could award it to the winner of the KHL to try and keep up foreign relations. It could be renamed the Stalinley Cup... but just for one year.

Haha well holy shit hockey games have changed since NHL 98. Played two games, NSH vs. DET on easiest setting, no line changes, etc. Lost the first one 7-1. Kept trying to use Triangle to hit, O to shoot, and X to pass even though I knew those were not the correct buttons anymore. Passing with R2 might take me a month to get used to. Despite this, I won the second game 6-0. It seems they built a ton of functionality into the shooting mechanism, but shit if I pass it to someone who has a great shot opp, my shooting motion is more me spazzing out on the right stick than any deliberate motion. Defense is hard as shit; it's tough to just stay with a player, I end up either poke checking or hitting with R stick leaving me either with the puck or totally burnt.
And like in real life, Pekka Rinne is my hero. It's funny, it did give me like 5% of the enjoyment of a real Preds game. Maybe I'm just in hockey withdrawal combined with lockout #nohope.
Fuck I may not pick it up just because of the injury thing. I couldn't fucking stand that shit in 12.
Just picked up NHL13, waiting to get home from work and setup EASHL team. Our team in NHL12 mostly setup plays for that open slot for one-timer, seems like this years edition is killing those plays. Are the goalies really like this most of the time? If so, this needs to be patched asap.
Yes, I've seen that video being circulated around EA forums along with sequels... its exactly like that. The goalies are fucking off the wall crazy unrealistically good. No matter how good the angle towards the back door, how quick the pass, you ain't scoring on 1-timers. But the weird thing is is that anything off-speed or change of direction they flub. I see just as many trickles-in type goals as pick-your-spot type snipes. Goalies do need toned down a bit.
I find that Quick plays just like he does in the NHL ;p
That Mason save at the end of the video is hilarious.
I'm pretty sure Niemi actually did that to the Sharks in the WCF

Second, is there a BG GM Connected League? And if so can I join? XBL: BigErn410
So far it seems to be PS3 only and I'm still waiting on more PSN IDs as stragglers buy the game late....
[Edit: Cheap pop, can anyone check out my Controllers for FFXI on PC thread in Tech section and help me out??]
EASHL is beasting though, such a disparity amongst skill levels and character levels right now. I've seen Veteran 3s already and there's Amateur 1-3s still and regardless of character level people are all across the board adjusting to the new pace, especially the skating, people getting caught flatfooted or are abusing people who are flatfooted.
Can't link it from phone atm but there's a really good article from Burnside up on ESPN.com's Cross Checks
