Is this the 2004 lockout or what?
Is this the 2004 lockout or what?
I believe the players were asking for a minimum freeze of the 1.8 they split this past season. But the only way the league were to have an issue losing money that way is if... wait for it... THEY HAD A LOCKOUT AND REVERSED THE INCREASING REVENUE TREND.
NOW knowing the league cannot expect revenue growth once games are canceled the offer becomes unreasonable but was a perfectly legitimate one that only would become more favorable over time to the owners.
I'm fairly certain that all money made during preseason and postseason games is included in HRR, so technically no, they do not get paid for those games as they are paid for regular season games only, but the total money allotted to players' salaries is increased by sales during these games.
For the record, Teemu Selanne calling out Gary Bettman putting his salary publicly on blast and asking if he'd take a pay cut to help small teams was fucking HILARIOUS!! :D
Not to mention the sport's most universally loved player calling Bettman the sports most hated person... OMG
Just give him another 200 goals on the books.
...please tell me you know the person who made this song
Edit:If you happen to see this and you know the person who made the song, it happens to be a good friend of mine that I've known since the 9th grade. The old FFXI'ers might know him as Gallick on Valefor. If you know who he is then there's a good chance I know who you are and my mind would be blown a little
Nope, can't say I know the guy.Is he from Vancouver or Calgary?
But the song is really funny - I gave up on trying to embed it properly.
If he's from Calgary then the song sucks. j/k
Even the Alberta rivalry is losing its edge with no hockey, as I'm sure both cities would unite to be like "Give us hockey back, so we can hate each other again properly." Esks/Stamps rivalry aside, but that's lol compared to Oil/Flames.
So for the past few weeks, instead of being sad about the lockout, I wrote a Caps preview. Read it, or don't, they're not playing anytime soon.

random and off-topic as fuck but this thread just has the largest concentration of Canadians on BG: If any of you have a solid working knowledge of Canadian tax law and could answer a quick work-related question for me please shoot me a PM
SassageCam-related news: I'm going to go ahead and start a new channel with a new password; while we obviously won't be seeing hockey on time I think on the Friday that would have been opening weekend(10/12) I'm going to do a showing of Goon so people can hang out, chat hockey and whatnot.
Ovechkin, to the surprise of nobody, has signed with Dynamo Moscow. Allegedly some bizarre price-matching contract worth $5.7 mil if played out for the full season? It seems as if he has already made it to his first practice today. No word of whether he will play tomorrow.
Geno and Gonchar make their debuts for Metallurg Magnitogorsk tomorrow against Salavat Yulaev. 9 a.m. EST. I am excite.

Oh man, this is great, but making me miss the NHL lots. But it's still a nice fix.
Also, never heard it said "Yagrrrrra" before.
inb4 for 20 years we've been saying it wrong. (Jagr)
Between the KHL and Czech leagues I may actually survive this lockout, even if it's watching them in my small dark office at 11 a.m. that keeps me going.
Need to find Rosetta Stone: Russian.
Oh man, totally loving that every time there's a penalty they play Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath.

Am I the only one who now wants the lockout to Katy long enough to see what cautions when Crosby's eventual KHL team plays against Vityaz Chekhov?
To Katy?
