ESPN2 is going to run a trial of a few KHL games to see how they do (Mainly Ovi, Malkin/Gonchar, Kovalchuk games). Fuck yes. ESPN2 I do get and so does everyone else. Fuck you NHL.
Does ESPN cover any CHL games at all? Curious about this.
P.S. I dig your avatar Sepukku.
This is the first hockey of any kind that has been on actual TV ESPN since the last lockout I think. NHLN will occasionally show CHL playoffs.
Rogers Sportsnet shows some minor league games at times, I'm not sure which league, I think CHL.
ESPNC was showing some old world juniors, i think 2009...fuck i miss watching hockey. I honestly dont understand how there are people out there who find this sport boring.
Pretty much this. When I was a kid, my brother and I wanted to play hockey a lot, but gear alone was about $1000 bucks each, and then the sign up fee was another $1000 bucks each (in our region in Calgary at least). $4000 just to play sports is a ton of money for a struggling lower-middle class family. Yeah, blah blah, you don't have to buy new gear constantly every year, but still, that initial start-up is a lot.
1000 bucks signup? Jeez, i dont remember it being that much.
Street hockey doesnt cost 1000 bucks, a shitty 20 dollar stick and a 2 dollar ball. And watching costs nothing lol
Yeah, playing organized hockey was pretty damn expensive growing up. At the time my parents could only afford skating lessons.
I live near Toronto and there won't be any shortage of hockey on. Sportsnet is doing weekly CHL games and I'm sure some AHL games too. The local Rogers channel covers Oshawa Gens games. And Leafs TV will have Marlies games.
Football equipment doesnt really seem cheap (shoulder pads, helmet, upper leg pads, cleats), but it seems to be pretty popular with the thugs
I played football for several years and not once did I buy anything other than cleats and mouthguards.
I need hockey back immediately. My NFL team is fucking awful and I hate baseball. And my college team plays in the most absurdly difficult division ever (SEC). The Preds are my only team that consistently performs well.
you have the grizz.
