Around here a lot of the leagues give free equipment/pads to goalies, or sell them at cost, and they don't have to pay the $1,400+ signup fee. We also have a lot of leagues and high school ice hockey teams, so goalies are a huge shortage.

There were a few teams interested from what I hear, but all of them were only looking for a one year deal. Not a multi year that Hasek was asking for lol.

Reports are Crosby likely won't play in Europe during lockout because, depending on what is to be considered his future earnings (his garunteed salary + current endorsements + whatever his future earnings are considered to be beyond the current deals), due to the severity of his head injury, is going to cost a European team $250,000-400,000 a MONTH.

It was revealed, the Rangers made him part of their NHL roster pre-lockout so he isn't getting paid during the lockout AT ALL. If/When lockout ends, they waive him, no one claims, he goes down to AHL and gets paid in Hartford. Major dick move but major LOL.
