I think that's what's getting to me even more. I mean, the lack of hockey is annoying. But when you think that it could be a lack of hockey, followed by a "The NHL is back, but your team might move." is just a whole new kick in the pelvis

I'm to the point I'm equally pissed off at both. The league has been growing at a phenomenal rate. There are a ton of casual/new fans that may not come back after this. To be 100% honest I really don't know how I will react if the entire season gets cancelled again.

It's just frustrating. Up until this point this is the healthiest hockey has been since I started watching when I was a kid. I don't want to see all that go to waste.

Hopefully with this one, it's a longer agreement, because like it's been said a bunch of times already, I dunno how many times I can get excited knowing every 5, 7 etc years it's gonna happen all over again.
But this definitely isn't helping the casual / newer fans at all. For a league that struggles in some markets, this definitely isn't the way to go about recruiting fans.

Problem is how much things can change economically in 5-7 years. Our current state would be considered some sort of dystopian post-apocalyptic Mad Max future in 2005.

Once again, bringing up another sport in the hackey thread, but isn't the NFL's newest one a 10 year deal? If they did something like that, but could begin negotiating an extension towards the end, that might work out better. That way, you're looking at *maybe* a lockout once a decade, as opposed to 4 in a 20 year span.

I agree. This 5 - 6 years in length is way too short for a CBA. Especially given the NHL's penchant for lockouts.
