You're right, how naive of me to think that the same organization that is out to make sure the Canadiens never win a game would actually allow fair results in awarding their trophies. It makes far more sense that they award trophies out of pity and sentiments like "oh he already won something this year."

e: Winnipeg stays in the SE because realignment never went through. It will probably be considered again for the '13-'14 season, and hopefully more carefully thought out/presented so that it can actually pass.

Realignment was shot down for this year, was announced well before the playoffs started. Bettman's usual: "well the schedule is already made, too late now".

the NHLPA shot it down. So yeah, there wouldn't be a decision on it till the NHL discusses it with the NHLPA. Not like they can wait till the CBA is done, then get a whole new schedule together a month before the season starts.

Might diminish his trade value a bit since if he's not going to sign an extension he becomes a rental player/someone else's problem to convince to re-sign, but fuck 'em.
