Hey everyone, hockey is saved! FOR FUCKING GLENDALE

Is this long saga in the desert at an end? Perhaps it is after the Glendale City Council voted 4-2 in favor of the city’s 20-year, $320 million lease agreement for prospective Phoenix Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison.
The agreement will help the team stay in Jobing.com Arena and hand over duties of managing the facility to Jamison. The one catch here is he’ll have until January 31, 2013 to close on the sale of the team or else the process, with a newly voted in city council, will begin all over again.
Outgoing mayor Elaine Scruggs, who was against the deal, was not pleased at the outcome of the vote saying, “The public will find they were mislead.” She then added, “I choose to support people in other types of uniforms. Police uniforms, fire uniforms…not Coyotes uniforms.”
Yikes.
Is this the end of the story for now? Let’s hope so, but the track record over the last three years says there’s always a twist waiting to be unleashed.

I liked the part where one councilor said because Jamison is spending time and some pocket change on the deal, he must be serious about it. Lets ignore the fact that you're actually going to be paying him back in folds.

This is not good. I'm starting to not miss hockey again. If, and when, this season is wiped out I can honestly say it will be years before I ever buy a Pens ticket. I could understand the last lockout, that was about trying to make the league stable. The argument was that it was no longer financially feasible to continue operating as it was. This lockout is about revenue. Not making sure the league continues to exist. That's what's making me have an even harder time swallowing this lockout. I will no longer give my money to a team/league/players that don't give a shit about me as a fan. The NHL and NHLPA bank on the fact that we are diehard fans. That no matter how grievously we are wronged, we will always come back as soon as the puck drops clenching dollar bills as we do so. I'm done. I'll watch the games on tv but I'm not spending any more money. At least not for a long time.

Like the second week of the season

The reason I'm pissed is because a girlfriend of mine here got interested in hockey this past season. She was so excited! She went to a game! Holy shit her team won the Stanley Cup, the same team she'd seen back in November! This is awesome and exciting! She can't wait for the season to start! Oh wait, except there is no season. Oh well, she hadn't invested too much into her new hobby, it's pretty easy to back out.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A Detroit Red Wings prospect faces charges under Michigan's tough "super drunk" designation following a traffic stop during which police discovered him clad in a Teletubby costume.

According to a Grand Rapids police report obtained by MLive.com, Riley Sheahan twice registered a blood alcohol level of .30 percent when tested in jail after his arrest on Oct. 29.

Police say the 20-year-old Grand Rapids Griffins center from St. Catharines, Ontario, was wearing the costume of a purple Teletubby known as Tinky Winky during the stop.

The "super drunk" charge carries a penalty of 180 days in jail and possible deportation. Sheahan also faces a charge of providing false information, as he was carrying the driver's license of fellow Wings prospect Brendan Smith when he was arrested.

According to the police report, Sheahan told police he was using Smith's license so he could get into bars. Smith, 23, was the Red Wings' first-round pick in 2007.

The police report didn't say how Sheahan got possession of Smith's identification.

Sheahan also was arrested on alcohol-related charges in 2010 (public intoxication, consumption by a minor) when he was a freshman at Notre Dame.

Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill says Sheahan is "getting help right now and will continue to get help."

Sheahan's next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.
