Onto a serious note. Do any of you work for a union? How do you feel about players signing overseas? As an ex union worker I find it to be in bad taste. In every other union job it would bring some heat.

Eh that's a tough one...on the financial end I'd say it'd be fine for an ordinary schlub who still has to feed his family, but for a bunch of guys who if they haven't completely mismanaged their finances(some assuredly have) should have millions in the bank that's a harder sell.

Though from a practical standpoint, these guys are professional performers, and performing requires practice, and lots of it. There's only so much they can accomplish working out by themselves, to make sure they're sharp when the lockout finally ends at some point they need to be playing organized, competitive hockey.

Its pretty customary for teachers during labor disputes to go get other work although typically not teaching.

The teacher example just reminded me of when my Mom worked for the government. She'd see people filing for Employment Insurance all the time, but during the summer when teachers were off, they got first dibs. Sorta like *Collect regular pay during school months, pay into EI* *Collect EI during summer vacation months*. But it was still funny because come June, they'd go out to start serving people their application forms and start with "If anyone is a teacher, follow me." and take care of them first. Mind you, their cases are always legit, it's not like someone trying to scam government handout money type thing.

Really interesting that all the major outlets/insiders (TSN, LeBrun, Lavoie, etc) have been dark and completely quiet since Burton if CBS Boston reported significant movement in lockout talks behind the scenes.
