Well in all fairness, Penner does have 2 more rings than Parise.

Oh I know Ishido. That's just my dream world situation.
of course, the Pens still need to sign Crosby to an extension, too.
Was out with some friends tonight, one of which is a casual Penguins fan, so I knew about the Staal deal. Just got home, Michalek deal was slightly upsetting for a few seconds because I like him and I'm a little tipsy and I read Martin at first. I don't know much about who we got for Michalek, but oh well. The cap space Shero freed up today, oh man. I can't wait to see what's done with it.
A) Fuck all y'all on the relocate the Flames talk.
B) Crazy pick. It definitely says something about it when all 3 guys on the TSN panel are like "...wow... oh wow...talk about a risky piece of work".
Here's hoping the kid works out. He's 6'2" and like 160 pounds, absolutely scrawny, but apparently he was like 5'7" a year ago. If he does live up to the 1st/2nd like centre caliber the TSN charts had him at, then in a few years time, it'll be great. And honestly, Feaster is obviously planning on going nuts on July 1st. We have cap space and a lot of players to sign considering all the UFA's we're not resigning this year.
And all that talk about not being ready for the NHL, Calgary hasn't had a draft in recent memory that was NHL ready in 1~2 years. Sven Baertschi is definitely the closest as he'll most likely be on the team next year, but for the most part, our drafts usually take 2~4 years to make the leap anyway. That's probably mostly to blame on Daryl Sutter's terrible job as a GM, but at the same time, how many players from this draft are ready to make the leap anyway? Nail will probably, but that's just because Edmonton is crazy. This pick is a long-term minded pick, and while the kid is high-risk, he is also very high-reward if things pan out. He's a very skilled player who only has room to grow, and that's very promising.
Round 2 soon
Yahoo has a good article up about the Staal deal and how it had been kicked around for a handful of weeks and still nothing was agreed on by 4:30pm yesterday when Carolina GM Rutherford came into Pens GM Shero's office at Consol and sat down and asked 1 more time for Staal and Shero told him Sutter had to be added and he stared down Rutherford and Rutherford didn't want to make the deal but Shero put his poker face on and waited for Rutherford to crack and overpay. Amazing.
Bruins traded pouliot to Tampa bay
According to espn leafs traded gustavsson to the jets
Bluefan any comments
Wonder if they're preparing for life after Pavelec.
Man fuck the rest of the draft, been watching some TT videos and that dude is slick, Hawks got a steal. Just hope they can get him sized up properly, Kaner does a pretty decent job during offseasons of bulking up so I think he'll be a good model to follow.
Only downside is that TT isn't Czech, we need more Havlat/Frolik-type interviews.
Also what the hell in general @ Stan Bowman, guy only makes A+ moves(Campbell trade, Toews/Kane/Sharp/Keith/Seabs extensions, Mayers signing, Oduya trade) and D- moves(Carcillo, Morrison, Lepisto, Brunette, every other move he's done since taking over) and nothing in between.
Any Leafs making spot for Luongo? or Johnson
Amazing how quickly Martin/Michalek went from fantastic offseason signings to "run those fuckers out of town."
Either way, I'm happy once Matrin if finally dealt and we can move on and hopefully make a run at Parise. It's unfortunate Crosby was injured because now there's no way Neal is being moved up to play with him after his season with Geno. Sid still needs a freaking winger that can score more than 20 goals.
Any word on current Suter rumors? I just realized that Huet is fully off the books now, as are O'Donnell, Lepisto, Morrison, and Brunette. Hawks have 23 roster spots already signed, $8m in cap space, if they could unload Montador for a minimum salary player they could clear up another $1.6m.
Barret Jackman got 3.1 mil, Karlsson got 6.5, both of those were simply re-signings. It is definitely not outside of the realm of possibility for Suter to garner over 7 mil.
Also people need to realize a lot of teams are going to be wary about spending to the current cap, as it is temporary. If the CBA moves the revenue split back closer to 50/50, the cap will go back to roughly what it was last season.
Goodbye Prust. You arent getting 2.2 mil a year.
