He will be good but won't be as amazing as he was during this post-season run and so people will call him overrated, overpaid etc.
Like the Gill signing; think it's fair value. I imagine Poile wanted a 1 year deal and Gill took a bit of a discount for the extra year. As long as you pair him with a mobile defenseman (e.g. Ellis / Josi), he's pretty solid. His 35 foot stick is also pretty nice on the PK.
I can't wait for the Suter situation to end even if we don't get him back; we're effectively hamstrung on aggressively pursuing other FAs until he makes a decision. I can't imagine it taking that long; there have to be 6+ teams drooling to toss him an offer at 12:01 AM on July 1. I personally think he's gone; Preds are down to spend with the new ownership group, but I have a feeling PIT / DET / MIN / etc. is going to toss out a ridiculous offer like $8m x 7.
Now that Jokinen is not returning to the Flames, I would love if the Preds made a run for him. We have quite possibly the worst group of Centers in the league. Legwand plays #1 a lot of the time and the guy would be a #3 C on most teams and possibly a #4 on several others. Fisher is a #2 at best as well.
Quick's deal is apparently 5.8 per year
5.8 cap hit is pretty nice. I'm glad its done. Hes been really good since he came into the league. I think its important that the Kings have stability in net since its been forever since the have had that. Bernier will prob be moved before the start of the season but wouldn't be shocked if they wait till the deadline.
The Flames pretty much murdered any chance of Suter signing a reasonable contract

NHL RAISES SALARY CAP TO $70.2 MILLION FOR NEXT SEASON *
And somewhere James Dolan is making Mr. Burns fingers at Ryan Suter.
*and Justin Schultz
Apparently, Leafs, Devils and Hawks are interested in Bernier. Wonder what they would offer for him.
Really, the two things now I think the Kings want, is a LW or a stay at home type defenseman (someone young) to replace Scuds or Mitchell in the next 2 years.
Our line-up for next year atm is
Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Carter
King-Stoll-Lewis
Richardson-Fraser-Nolan
Doughty-Scuds
Mitchell-Voynov
Greene-Martinez
Really, we don't have any glaring weaknesses so not sure what they will really be looking for.
Hawks have been looking to unload Hammer so, there is a possibility that he goes as part of, or the main straight up trade for trade.
I don't think they're actively looking to unload him so much as he's just by far their most tradeable player so they're entertaining offers.
They're pretty thin at D still to be unloading him without good cause.
I'd take him, but there would be really no room for him on D and by the time t here is room, hes an UFA.
Really, I think they will want back either some prospects (D or Forward) draft picks, or a player on the left side.
I love reading comments about Quick's new deal and people comparing him to Luongo and DiPietro and saying that he was just a flash in the pan and is cashing in on one great playoff run. lol.
Excepting this past season for Quick, Luongo had overall better stats in the years leading up to his big contract. Sv% of .913, .920, .917, .921 whereas Quick's were .929, .918, .907, .914. The two are actually extremely comparable, except for the fact that Quick now has a Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe. (Before going into the significance of that .929 year by Quick, Luongo followed the aforementioned years with a year of .928.)
People will always whine when they can, remember this
