I really do hope the new CBA has some sort of an amnesty clause where teams can get rid of 1 excessively major contract that is/was a complete mistake. Being able to get rid of a contract like Wade Redden's for example.

On the Olli serious side though, he has 61 points and 23 goals last year. That wouldn't be terrible at all for a second line center.

Eh, Quicks cap hit is pretty nice. 5.8 to 5.3 for Luongo. I don't really see an issue with it. He likely won't repeat the numbers he had this year but if the team can actually play more to their offensive potential, he won't have to.

Quick's cap hit is good, but I doubt he'll play at such a level that it gets talked about as a "great deal" like some other players.

Luongo's cap hit also is good, but it's such a long contract (taking him to age 42 at the end, rather than Quick at 37) that it doesn't look as attractive.

On the Jokinen thing, he gets a ton of shit but would be a good 2C for a lot of teams. As long as his cap hit doesn't exceed 5-5.5m.

Price at 6.5 would not be absurd given that he is the best player on the team.

Hilarious that Gomez is still owed $10m over the last 2 years of his contract, so even a team looking to get to the cap floor probably would not take him.

edit again: apparently Schneider has been re-signed in principle, waiting on July 1 so that the contract can be legally signed.

Eh, it helps keep the cap down. Not sure if it has a NMC or NTC in it. You take off those last 3 years and you are looking at a 7 million cap hit.

Yeah I'd be happy with that as a Canucks fan. Good term length for a goalie and I think $4M per is fair given performance and potential.

Had that mixed up for whatever reason, thought he still had a year remaining.

Anyway that points strongly to Luongo being gone, as I doubt the Canucks want to be paying close to 10m for goaltending.
