Stupid question time. Is Nash actually a free agent or is he just trying to gtfo from Columbus?
Unrelated. Sad to see Souray and Burish leaving Dallas, glad to have Whitney though, he'll be fun to watch at games :D. Also fuck my school schedule, i'm gonna end up missing all the Dallas Vancouver games this year x.x
They weren't great, but they were always entertaining to watch. Hopefully Dallas can get a couple more good guys, would make for some entertaining games at least. Plus they could use a decent playoff run for once, instead of this missing the playoffs by a few points bullshit
Hopefully if Morrow, Lehtonen, Benn, and practically everyone really, can avoid injury this season they should be do pretty well, which would be nice, cause i'm getting tired of everyone around me qq'ing at the end of the regular season. It doesn't help i stick out like a sore thumb in Dallas either, pretty sure i'm the only person in the DFW area with Vancouver stickers all over the back of my car <_<
I wish that the Hawks would have gone after and re-signed Burish instead of dumb fuck Carcillo. I miss Burish.
Looking at the Garrisson signing I can see this being a good signing or a mildly bad signing. Canucks defense has been consistently a group of good not great, moderately overpaid defenseman playing in a system that can make a player look very good if they can make a decent shot from the point and get it on net.
I think Suter signs with Detroit tomorrow, if Detroit doesn't sigh him they seem to be kinda screwed on defense. No idea where Parise is going but if the rumors are true that he's been given offers of 25 mil in the first two years of his contract then holy shit is that insane money. I didn't watch Jersey much at all, what other player is he comparable to?
I think Vancouvers main problem on defense is they don't have that clear cut, number one guy back there, as dumb as that might sound.
Parise is a pretty unique player. If I had to compare him to anyone in the West, I'd say someone like Zetterberg (prior to Z's last season, which was subpar).
He is a work horse. He stands out as a leader on the ice. Plays a solid game in both ends and in my opinion, stands out almost every shift. He's one of those guys that you just notice every time that he's out there, because he's making stuff happen.
Yeah without Suter Detroit has one 2-3 guy (Kronwall), 3 guys who are something like #3-5 defensemen (White, Quincey, Ericsson), Kindl (bottom pairing at this point) and Smith, who could end being anything, although definitely not a shutdown guy. It would probably survive the season but it would be dicey.
e: Also only the beginning of Z's season was subpar. He was great for the last 40-60 games and by far the best player in the playoffs for the Wings.
I feel a bit humbled that Vancouver won't be receiving players from Winnipeg anymore.
Just a bit.
Brodeur signs 2 years with the Devils
I'm bored. Something needs to happen. By something I mean Parise signing with the Penguins of course.
FA predictions: Parise -> Flyers, Suter -> Detroit, Semin -> Calgary
If Semin went to Calgary it would be for some absurd number like 19 million per year. Cause that's how Feaster rolls.
