I'm personally just glad Jagr is out of the Eastern conference, curious to see how he does in Dallas now that he's not going to be trolling the Penguins more than once a year.

Related to Jagr and Dallas convo:
Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown OK, sure, Whitney and Jagr are two good veteran wingers, but where's the veteran center to play with GOOD GOD THAT'S JOE NIEUWENDYK'S MUSIC!
wonder is dallas can make the playoffs. only team i see falling out of the top 8 is phx
So I have a strong suspicion that'll be it for the Jets on the market. Certain Wellwood is going to be re-signed so my projected lines:
Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Kane-Jokinen-Wellwood
Ponikarovsky-Burmistrov-Antropov
Slater-Thorburn-Miettenen
Enstrom-Byfuglien
Stuart-Bogosian (My bro's)
Clitsome-Hainsey
Not bad all things considered. I realize Antropov is a center, but he's played pretty damn well on the wings last season.
If Suter rolls, NSH could easily fall out. Minus Suter, I see us finishing in the #7-10 spot. If he leaves and we don't pick up a suitable replacement (basically impossible this free agency) then, as much as it sucks to say, I think you have to trade Weber this summer for a massive haul, and assume a rebuilding year. Weber traded to someone like Philly could bring in some absurdly awesome prospects / NHLers. Giroux is off the table, but Hartnell / Couturier / etc would be interesting. Losing Hamhuis, Suter, and then Weber without anything in return would be unforgivable and I doubt Weber re-signs unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat on Suter right now.
If Suter doesn't sign with Detroit, they could fall. San Jose could fuck up and miss the playoffs. Nashville and St Louis could fall off too. Hell Schneider could end up shitting the bed and the Canucks miss the playoffs.
I can honestly say that if Canucks do trade Luongo and Schneider does choke and we miss the play offs I'll be pissed. If we miss the playoffs and Luongo then goes on to win the Cup with his new team I'd seriously consider no longer watching hockey lol.
Wings gonna somehow get Weber next year anad RULE THE WORLD
Spoiler: show
Brett MacLean suffered a cardiac emergency and is in the hospital. Waiving him seemed to be the right choice.
Best wishes to him and his family though, that's rough.
Rangers signed Taylor Pyatt.
1.5m a year not bad for a 15-20ish goal guy
Yep.
The abandon ship begins in PHX.
Didn't think about Nashville. I guess I just expect them to keep making even losing big players since they always seem to be a pretty well managed team.
Vancouver I think will be fine. St. Louis might slip a bit but I think they are still a playoff team. SJ I guess could go either way but their defense is a bit better now with Stuart.
Detroit is the same as Nashville to me. People pick them every year to slip but they some how keep finding ways to win.
It really sucks that Phoenix won't have an owner for a few weeks (if at all). This shit should have been moved along months ago. It just blows watching a lot of quality (underrated, of course) guys leave.
Whitney and Pyatt already signed elsewhere. Expecting Brule to be out and then if Doan leaves, well, yeah. They're fucked. I guess at least they'll be able to battle Edmonton and the Blue Jackets for last place.
I agree, it really does suck for their fans. I know they're not many (compared to other fanbases, there's still quite a few of them), but they've had to deal with a lot that they don't deserve.
These gotta be some of the most backass teams ever; I'm gonna go to watch pre-season and do prep for fantasy league drafts next season and be like "Hudler plays on the Flames?" "Roy is centering Jagr and Whitney in Dallas?"
