An obvious thing to say, but Parise and Suter both state that it was about playing close to home rather than the money which got them. Makes sense, since apparently bigger offers were on the table.

Well, the biggest offer I heard for Parise was 13 years, 100 million, so really, its only a 2 million difference. Highest I heard for Suter was 90 mil over 13 years.

That Suter contract is going to be a colossal pain in the dick for years to come now. Luckily Kris Letang isn't a piece of shit, so he won't fleece the Pens when it comes time to negotiate. But poor Wulfy. Weber is as good as gone.

Oh both were overpaid, but the Flyers reportedly offered both 100m or more. And they had several teams offering them very similar contracts, so all I'm saying is that it wasn't just a money grab. It obviously wasn't a "taking less to play at home/best chance to win" situation but it doesn't seem like it was signing with whoever threw the most cash their way.

They'll be a top team in the conference, but Backstrom's an UFA after this season and I wonder if they feel comfortable handing the reigns to Harding.

The contracts aren't terrible though, the salary cap is steadily going up at a rate that might make Suter's deal seem at or below market in a few years.

I kept hearing reports out here that the Flyers just offered Parise and Suter insane contracts because they knew they wouldn't sign here but it would make other teams over spend for them. Not sure how true that is, lol.

If I were the Pens, i'd much rather go for Doan than Parise.

I see the Wild as a fringe playoff team to missing it at as 9th/10th seed. I don't see them taking the division from Vancouver so highest they would then get is 4th.

Even with the loss of Suter, I still think Nashville will be a playoff team.

I think everyone has now set their sights squarely on Bobby Ryan. Nash is going to be the consolation prize just due to the fact that Howson wants way too much for him. Wonder what it would take to pry Yandle away from the Coyotes.

What the fuck is this, i wake up, go to the gym and Suter and Parise end up in minnesota? Be interested to see how much, if at all minnesota improves now. They did well at the beginning of the season last year but fell apart. Lets see if Suter/Parise can help!
