Rangers sign former Cap and Potomac, MD native Jeff Halpern. At this point he's a solid faceoff guy and not much else. Have fun with that, BK.

Mutual interest between Kings and Shane Doan. Have it on good authority Game 5 West Finals post game stuff long forgotten on both sides.
Yep. Between Boyle and Halpern both bottom lines have a good FO man, something we needed this offseason (I wanted Konopka but what can you do).
With Stepan as #2, that means Artie's either going to the Wing (where Torts seems to prefer him, considering he can't win a FO to save his life) or getting traded.
Pretty much. I like arty but if he gets traded, oh well. I felt the same way about Prospal.
According to Sportsnet, Alex Semin will sign a 1 year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins today. This is based off of Russian info so take it with a grain of salt.
Oh man if thats true.... I'm not sure whose response Im more looking forward to, Bregor or Sepp.
Teddy Purcell just got paid, $4.5 million per year for three years after his current deal expires. Good deal, forwards are hard to find on the FA market it seems...
I wouldn't mind a one year contract I guess, despite it making me eat my own words about Shero pursuing him a few days ago. Who knows, playing with Crosby or Malkin might make him reconsider the effort he puts out.
If its a 1-year deal, its stomach-able. If its anything more, its unacceptable and I'll be irate. I haven't recieved a text from Pens alert and thats usually the first way any news gets out; even before Penguins or league website. 1-year deal he has to work his butt off to guarantee his salary next season after that, or he'll only further cement his legacy as the laziest Russian of all the lazy Russians. Plus, since we lost on Suter/Parise, its money we have to blow - and with a 1 year deal - its just temporary salary cap space occupied til next year, and we've already explored the plethora of top-6 UFA's coming up next year. MUCH better pool than this year's, even if 50% of them get re-signed mid-season.
I'd rather the Penguins sign Semin for one year than the word "penguins" even be in the same sentence as Rick Nash.
Nash would be a better fit on the Penguins most likely, but with what they'd have to give up for him? No thanks.

So wait, did the Wild already name Parise and Suter assistant captains?
Seems pretty stupid to be to name two new players assistants when they have done nothing with the team yet. They were leaders on other teams and all, but I dunno, just doesn't seem right. Let them play a year or two there before you do that. Kinda seems shitty to take A's away from other players already there. Who is staying as the other one then? Cullen?
