I dunno if Too Human would really count because of how it's development played out, but I was really excited for that game for a long time and it was hyped up to be something it was not. Alpha Protocol was another one.

Also this thread is making me wanna replay FFVIII.

SO3 was disappointing for the you know what, but I thought until the you know what it was a good story. Tension was set high, there was a real panic cause this crazy shit was trying to wipe out the galaxy (and succeeding). Characters are the usual deal but the atmosphere was perfect.

SO4 wasn't disappointing because SO3 taught me even if they could build up a great story they would just ruin it. Also, I learned to be in it only for the game play and cool end-game boss fights.

FFVIII was disappointing mostly for the game play and lack of support characters I actually liked. Rinoa is just an awful heroine, worse than Aerith who spends 2/3s of the game SPOILERED. I mean dead. And Aerith was pretty bad as well. Story wasn't bad but there was no plot twist to really make me care like VI or VII did, also got pretty hectic near the end and felt like they didn't know wtf they were doing. I initially didn't like Squall but he's grown on me over the years. I just think VIII did a terrible job of conveying his personality (which is lone wolf who keeps distance but also cares) and it comes across as whiny and emo which all FF main characters are at some point.

Of course mgs3 without a doubt was the best in the series. The entire game overall was strong.

I detest MGS as a series and 3 was one of the most badass and epic games I have ever played in my life. Going up against The End of whatever the fuck the sniper's name was... holy shit that battle was awesome.

I need to ask though, will Diablo 3 betray me? I never played D2 that much but am hyped about D3. I'm curious about the amount of complaints surrounding the game though. 45€ is a lot for me at the moment, but I doubt the price drops anytime soon...

FF8 by far. After i finished 7 on ps1 back then with a friend and weas blasted away by this game (in retrospect: with my gameknowledge back then even Pacman would have been influential to me; just saying).
Bought it with friend. Started playing. Lost interest after 1 day. so goddamn boring it is unbbearable. "what new adventures is Squall going to witness?" Squall: ... "that's the spirit lad!"
Someone give that pansy a popsicle or something. we continued playing Twisted Metal to get our game up again.

FF8 wasn't that great, but was tolerable. The thing I don't understand is why people think Squall is a pansy/emo? He got more shit done then Cloud. Assassination fails? No problem time to drive a car into this bitch! Calling the shots and giving orders out like a boss when attacking another Garden, I mean god damn. I guess I'll never understand why people think he is, unless they just hate his inner thought dialogue.
