FFXIII
Dragon Age 2
Fable 2
Suikoden IV. Ugh.
EDIT: Not like it was really hyped, but as a Suikoden fan, I was hyped at least, lol.
Ah fuck, Warhammer, totally slipped my mind on last post, but yea, I was soo hyped for that one & soo completely let down. And megaman as well, although I really don't recall exactly which #.
Dead Island
Dark Void
Final Fantasy XIII
Fable
Rage
Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
Aliens vs Predator
PSU
And while I can't think of any really old games. Super Mario Bros. 2 comes to mind. As I've grown older I appreciate this game a lot more for what it is. But as a child? Fuck no.
America's Army 3.
AA was actually a really awesome game despite being free and funded by the government. I played the shit out of it when I was a kid and then kind of transferred to console for shooter games. When I heard about AA3 I had a nostalgia bomb go off and of course got super excited. AA3 sucks penises.
Chrono Cross at first. Love it now though
FF8
Xenosaga ep 2
Diablo 3
GTA IV
Sooo hyped for it, and it was such a let down. Huge regression of fun from Vice City/San Andreas. I kept waiting for that one awesomely fun mission to start and the game to pick up.... but Roman called me, angry about not bowling with him, instead
Heard the DLC was a lot better, haven't given it a chance yet.
Is it too early to say Elder Scrolls Online?
Skyward Sword is definitely my most recent overhyped game. After Twilight Princess it just felt like a completely different team made Skyward Sword or they just spent WAY too much time on the motion controls and forgot about the gameplay, story, and everything really. =/
FF14 is a pretty obvious one, but luckily, I didn't actually buy it and was just playing off a friend's friend code at least. >.> I should have known better after FF11. Especially with what they've done to it recently.
Breath of Fire IV. Before you get mad hear me out. I was pretty pissed Fou-Lu ended up being the final boss. Shit was stupid, you got assholes manipulating everything behind the scenes and the writers found it necessary to have the two half's of the same individual fight each other as the finale. They even tease you in the ending credits about it with antagonists who's names I don't remember but they basically said "shits all good now, lets take advantage." If there was ever a need for a direct RPG sequel, Breath of Fire IV-2 was it.
Suikoden IV. No idea why they felt the need to deviate from the story and add shitty ocean faring mechanics to it. It was such a retarded choice after III gained so much momentum to just straight up rewind everything to a 150 years ago while adding absolutely nothing to the overall arc. Fuck this game.
Devil May Cry 2. Nuff said.
Xenosaga II. Another what the fuck. Bad enough Takahashi, Saga, and Mitsuda left the project. They then go ahead and create one of the slowest most fucktarded battle-systems to date.
Street Fighter X Tekken. Game can go eat a dick. Shit's damn near unplayable online at this point.
Don't know why people are picking FFXIV. Anyone who's paid any attention to the retarded logic of the FFXI team throughout the years would've known that game was made of a 100% fail with higher res graphics the second it was announced.
Well, saying story is kind of silly in a Zelda game, I should have just left that part out.
edit: The story was fine, I think the rest of the game just made me hate it overall
Going to get so much hate for some of these:
1. Spore (extremely hyped and one of the biggest let downs)
Extremely close 2. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (nuff goddamn said)
3. Dead Island (biggest waste of $60 ever)
Everything else:
Dragon Age 2
TOR
Mass Effect 2 and 3
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations
Diablo 3
Every FF since 10
Agree with a lot of what other people are saying, disagree with Starcraft 2 and Guild Wars 2 though (lolcichy).
With KoA: Reckoning being compared to Fable a lot recently I'm seeing a lot of hate for Fable 1 that I never even knew existed. 2 and 3 were terribad but I played the shit out of 1 and thought it was pretty fucking good back in the day. So why all the hate for Fable 1?
I'll prolly think of more games as thread progresses.
FFXIV.
Skyrim is a close second.
It seems Sega apologised to everyone last year about the barrel:
Question was asked in the first 30s or so. Then there's JP talk, for about 1.5 minutes, then at 2 minutes the guy translates it to the crowd, followed by an apology.
I think I just found closure. I can die happy now.
I believe Spore was fine until people started creating penis/sexual shaped creatures? But then again I do remember reading about all the fantasic features that were going to be in Spore and then finding out it got a low review score in the monthly PC magazine I purchase.
