    All time: Actraiser 2 on the SNES. I loved the first one, the combination of city-building and side-scrolling action was awesome. Then the second one came out, and they got rid of the city-building, which was 90% of what I like about the first game. Played about 3 hours of it, realized the city building was gone, and put it down, never to pick it up again.

    This generation: FFXIII, Dead Island, Lair, Mafia II.

    Pretty much this (even though I liked Lightning as a main character.) Really pissed I tried some of the DLC in an attempt to make it more fun. Most of it is just a clusterfuck.

    Oh fuck yes. Actraiser was the shit, I rented it from Blockbuster about five times before I realized I could save allowance money and buy it. And Actraiser 2 did suck ass.

    Actraiser always reminds me of Arcana for SNES because I bought them in tandem. Fucking awesome games.

    Alien vs Predator, was madly hyped for this game, was and is total garbage. Bought steelbook -.-;

    Dawn of War 2, again loved the original dawn of war, and dark crusade is one of my favorite RTS games, 2 was just lacking so badly, and GFWL can suck my ass. Also bought steelbook -.-;

    as for 14, when we first heard about it and got the benchmark programme, i remember everyone in my ls was freaking out about how awesome it was, decided i'd wait to see before buying etc, really glad i waited

    One of my own personal choices would probably be Dragon Age II.

    I've seen Diablo 3 pop up quite a few times. Anyone want to give a quick rundown of what the problem(s) is(are)? Genuine curiosity here, as I haven't played it either in beta or release.

    FF14 by far.

    Also after reading all the good stuff about the Star Wars MMO I bought it and then canceled my sub 10 days later. I've grinded out many games and got to the max in quite a few but I've never been so bored as to quit before 15 because of how slow it was and unoriginal.

    had a lot of let downs on single player games, the entire last half of the suikoden series was a huge buzz kill

    Graces, to me, was the disappointing one.

    I like this one more:

    (Combos start at 1:30. Kind of weak at first, but they get a lot better.)

    @Karbuncle; Yeah, definitely worth giving Vesperia a second chance. It's not my favorite, but it's in my top 3. Oh, and play it on Hard. Did Normal on the 360 first play-through, then Hard on the PS3 first play-through. Sooo much better. Especially if you're playing with another player like you mentioned.

    Which reminds me, I need to buy a JP PSN card to get some of those costumes.

    It might have to do with each and every main FF before it being successful (regardless of nitpicky fanboys being drama queens over minor details).

    FF14 was only hyped by the internal fanboy community, anyone with an ounce of MMO experience could tell from the beta reports/footage that it was a pile of half-baked generic garbage. The fact that they're still wasting resources and staff on that uninspired copy-pasta experiment is mind-boggling lol

    Has anyone mentioned Doom 3 or Quake 4 yet? Felt pretty letdown when those both turned out to be pretty unrevolutionary and just plain forgettable. I grew up on the nightmares of the Doom series and the godfather of competitive FPS with Quake 3.

    Battlefield 3.

    Pretty much lied to us about Mod Tools being released because FB2 is too 'hard' for people to figure out. It may take time but don't count out modders so easily, DICE. Gotta make DLC money somehow...huh? No Commander makes the game feel more generic than fucking every other FPS game out on the market. No strategy, no artillery, no fun allowed.

    Tera.

    Wishing I didn't drop $50 on this because it was boring outside of the combat. Had no desire to log back in and canceled subbed right away. I'll give it another shot after gametime cards eventually come out and see the changes.

    Oh God, yes! Excuse me... Oh Master, yes! Would've been great were it not for the omission of the city-building aspect.

    The music for both games was done by Yuzo Koshiro of "Streets of Rage" fame. Great stuff!

Kinda just fell into Graces years and years after i Played Symphonia, So it was like a first re-introduction to the series.
    I did play them in order of release, but only started playing the Tales games last year. Friend of mine hates any FF post X, but is a huge Tales fan, got me in to it. Don't regret a thing. Awesome games.

    This is very fair, as I remember feeling the same thing.

    On that vein, I could probably also say Megaman 8. After having such great titles on the NES, and a decent MM7, MM8 on the PS just felt absolutely underwhelming. A terrible, super-cutesy soundtrack, gimmicky stages, pretty lame bosses (aside from sword man); it just reinforced how dated the original series felt when compared to the X series (at the time, as the wheels would later fall off of the X series as well).

    MM8 is the only mega man game I can never play again, along with X7. Only thing about MM8 that I liked was the Japanese intro theme.

    Jump! Jump!

    Fuck! You!

    I think I only made it to Dr. Wily once, but never did finish the game. the 1st Wily stage made me want to cut myself.

    MAG I believe you're thinking of. Never heard a thing about it after its release.
    Wasn't terrible but it definitely was not 64 vs 64 or anything like that shit. It was a decent enough game, just didn't hold my interest very long.
