I definitely was not insinuating that farming only pots was diablo-like. In fact I specifically had to make a post specifying that because of the strawman used against me. It was the ability go just hack and slash your way through everything and get rewarded for it that made diablo. You cleaved through enemies, through barrels, turned dead bodies over, etc. It was like a rite of passage to get something as awesome as a Shako off an armor rack. I myself got two (crappy weapon) legendaries in d3 from weapon racks before.

Also, making mf not effect chests/etc just feels wrong and imo encourages mf swapping, not to mention it punishes people who run a fulltime mf set. Previously people who swapped mf weren't getting the full effect because they only had mf for elites and resplendent chests and bosses; they didn't have mf for everything else. Now they reduced that everything else to only include white mobs..

Just wanted to pop in and say that pretty much everyone I knew that mf-script swapped did it for breakable items + white chests as well since it's literally instant, lol. We basically only lost out on white mobs, so nothing has really changed in that regard.

IAS changes suck but a lot of people already knew it was coming for weeks (just not sure how large of a nerf till recently) and so we shifted gears and sold our IAS gear ahead of time. Games tend to change quite a bit nowadays with just one patch so I'm pretty used to it at this point.

So, I'm definitely getting more rares per minute starting from Machines of War all the way to Siegebreaker. Almost guaranteed 2-4 rares from each elite pack at 5 NV, it's really awesome. Sucks that I gotta commit to the whole run now instead of doing a bunch of Azmodan runs. I'm just glad I no longer have to deal with Phasebeasts. Seriously, fuck Phasebeasts.

Yeah, the change to NV is pretty awesome. If you think Siegebreaker is amazing for rares, wait until you do Whimsy lol. Just get x5 NV stack off of A1 champ packs then zone in.

How much is the tentacle nerf hurting DH? Figure it prob only matters on stuff with big hitboxes, but that's pretty much every boss in the game lol.


Also... really? They didn't think WD needed anything at all changed even the tiniest bit? Wow.

Pretty big - you're better off not runing Elemental Arrow now. Most people have swapped either to Lightning Ball or Screaming Skulls; the former is similar to pre-nerf NT but deals less damage while the latter is a single target ability that has built in CC (fear).

Thoughts on rapid fire? I rather enjoy being able to unload half my hatred with a pretty damn good attack in the 1 sec before SS resets.

No matter what Blizzard does to inferno, it'll always be full of problems, especially when we start getting into "every skill has a place/viable."

i feel like it's become a trivial place because if you really want to chase elite packs might as well do it in A3 where you can port to tower/core/bridge/crossing etc. and get a longer chain of elites with all A3 drop rates.

Mixed feelings. There are champ packs out there that I use SS to avoid damage + get kiting range on (I use Tact Advantage over SS) so I tend to not stand in one spot for too long. It's definitely a powerful ability if you're given the opportunity to stand still and turret for 3~ or so seconds.

edit: I get anywhere from 4-5 usually. I guess if you want to do a long gaming session then A3 is better since you can just port to various places and keep the NV buff rolling, but I like to check my auctions etc inbetween Whimsy runs, lol. Almost forgot to mention but there's also the fact that there's a billion chests (clouds) in Whimsyshire as well.

god damn, that is so strange. i haven't done many (around 7-8 probably) but i can never once recall seeing more than 3 packs in the zone.


btw for those interested, i have been playing with some of the different skills.

i don't like frost arrow at all even though i loved it pre-NT.

i do like clustering arrow/loaded for bear a lot. you can one-shot most trash packs if your DPS is high enough and it's pretty solid on everything else. it gets even better if you're using sharpshooter/crit builds because those first two CA's become very front-loaded. the usage cost is high but it's mitigated with grenadier. i'm gonna try vengeance since you get 3 shots from a full tank no matter what and health orbs replenish hatred/dp which gets you back up faster anyway.

right now i'm messing around with impale/overpenetration. love the speed and damage even though the upkeep is kinda high. got a decent body that helps eat the cost of it though. i'll update with my findings later.

Since you guys brought up whimsey, what type of dps do i need to have to be an asset in there? I talked to a DH friend who swore anything under 50k and im useless. True? Your thoughts? (I'm wizard if that makes a difference).

Yeah, I'd love to do Whimsey, but my DPS is only like 35k (DH)

Might have just been some really bad luck, but I only got a single blue from all of the clouds on the Whimsy I just ran.

I've switched from tactical advantage back into nightstalker, and with my tanky build / lightning ball, disc is flying in. Had to change prep back to battle scars since no NT for heal anymore.
That being said, new drop rates suck. Despite getting more rares, they're absolute shit. Getting tons of lvl 51-55 stuff, and way less ilvl 62/63 than before.

I'm really not enjoying Whimsey at all, don't know what it is but I just feel kinda unlucky with the affix combos I get and have to skip so many things. Clouds aren't dropping jack anymore so I would think chaining A3 would be the best bet.

Invulnerable minions and shielding affixes don't seem very nerfed to me. Still stupidly annoying to deal with.

I was screwing around in A3 but got pissed at the repair costs so went to A1 just to run stuff quickly. Loads of rares, 100% crap.
