I find it hard to believe that they would make the "ultimate weapon" and only clean out a few planets. It is entirely possible that they cleaned out a species/civilization as advance or at least pretty close to them on the technological level. Enough to warrant creating something as unstoppable as xenomorphs.
Unstoppable? Don't predators mop the floor with them as teenagers?
To many people have not read the dark horse comics, but a lot of these questions have already been answered either directly, or through association of pre-determined situations
The prometheus movie gave the impression that a xenomorph can probably only be made when one infected individual mates with another, meanwhile, anything else that comes in contact with the black goo seems to mutate into some monster (assuming the black goo in the facility is different from the one used at the beginning of the movie).
Even though the movie gives you no reason to think the black goo in the containers and the black goo at the beginning are two different things. But it's hard to find a reasonable and non arbitrary explanation for why black goo would transform worms into angry penis snakes, a guy with a melted face into the incredibly ugly hulk, turn engineers into particles for creating new life, and who knows what it would have done to holloway even though it looked like he would disintegrate. You could reason it does different things under different conditions, but that just seems arbitrary.
I haven't seen the movie and I don't get it either. What a silly movie.
None of that is relevant anyway. One way or another the black goo is a mutagen with an end result that creates the "ultimate life form."
The questions most people have are seriously "unimportant". It is a movie about existentialism. Everything is a minor plot point in the face of a greater theme. Alas it is about as deep as a saucer. Did not stop me from enjoying it though.
I haven't seen the movie, only kinda want to so I can better understand what is going on in this thread but at the same time it sounds like an awful movie so I kinda don't want to.
It's hit or miss with a mixture of confusion.
I was disappointed that the screeching sirens from the trailer weren't in it
other than that I enjoyed it
