if the price isn't something stupid i might think about it.
i love the pretentious attitude of ms recently, liking my winphone with all his flaws and beautiful ui.
investing in something really innovative.
It's times like these I love having a friend with Microsoft employee discount.
Senior executive discount.
Sold my Asus EEE Transformer to my brother in preparation for this.
Nope.

Still does what its intended to do.
It looks cool but im holding my breath on it till we see it in action windows phone 7 seemed crazy good when I first saw it as well. I know one of the posters said he loved the windows phone but I really am not a fan of it lol. Id take a iPhone any day over a windows phone. MS really botched their phone lineup up big time.
I wont be jumping on it as I am android user(cant live without roms now)
Ya laptops do most of what a tablet can; however I am going to say for school notes evernote (with the front facing camera) rocks. Now that my office has spell check; its just as good as any laptop for school, lasts twice as long 2 full days of up time without having to turn it off(not all tablets can say this the TF line can because of the keyboard dock)
I'm slowly infecting friends and family with WP7 fever, everyone seems to like it once they've got one (it's just so much slicker than other OS in my opinion), but so few people seem to even recognise it. Phone popularity is definitely based on word of mouth, I see far more adds for WP7 than iPhone at the moment but they don't seem to be taking effect.
Edit: As for the tablet - Looks pretty neat, I'm obviously a fan of the metro UI so I'd be tempted.
Happy to see the x86 version has a stylus digitizer, and hopefully doesn't have build issues like the Samsung Series 7. The RT version doesn't interest me all that much, but I'm planning to get the x86 model unless some glaring issue crops up with it.
I'm intrigued. It definitely looks cool, but the price needs to be right.
Windows phone is just not my cup of tea it's good it just doesn't work for me. I have a lumia.. I own 11 phones.
Metro is so retarded. As for the hardware it self, looks sleek and the keyboard is nice. WE'll have to wait and see.
Video of the announcement
Might be a strange request but does anyone know of a link to what patents Microsoft has applied for/received recently? Curious if they have patented the keyboard in cover.
According to this article it's actually based on tech they patented in 2003 and first used in 2010 for the Sidewinder X4 keyboard. But, that's more how they're able to squeeze a keyboard into that thin a form factor. Putting it on the inside of a cover, not sure, but I'm also not sure if that's patentable (ideally, at least, I'm aware of how stupid the patent system is).
I actually like this and I'm not a tablet fan. I guess someone needed to create the tabtop. This could very be the first tablet I pick up. The pricing tho could be a problem if it rivals expensive ultrabooks.
Same, x220 here (picture is of a convertible tablet in case you guys were unaware). Still an exciting development though, since if microsoft can make x86 tablets, or at least MS software, somewhat mainstream in the tablet market, then you won't need to buy a huge convertible if you want pen computing that's worth a shit, and have so little useful pen/touch software for it. And MS aside, none of the OEMs and certainly not apple give a fuck about pen.
Wonder how well apps or w/e are going to work on it. Or how that will work at all for this.
