    Okami HD

Following tonight’s Famitsu leak, Capcom U.S.A. and Capcom Europe have confirmed it will release Okami Superb Version on PlayStation Network in North America as Okami HD this fall for $19.99.

The game will feature 1080p high-definition graphics, PlayStation Move compatibility, and a “full suite” of trophies. The Move controller will be used to “naturally make brush strokes with the essential Celestial Brush to defeat enemies and solve puzzles.”
Grab your Celestial Brush! I’m pleased to confirm that this fall, gamers will be able to return to the land of Nippon in Okami HD, exclusively on the PS3 with PlayStation Move support. Initially released to critical acclaim on the PS2, Okami HD has the player take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf. After a tyrannical monster, Orochi, turns the world into a ruined, colorless wasteland, Amaterasu must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory and defeat the demon in charge of the destruction.

Okami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. I did not think it was possible to make the game look even better, but when I saw it for myself, I was a believer. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD, allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in more detail than ever before.

To create an even more immersive experience, you can take your PlayStation Move motion controller and use it as your own Celestial Brush and naturally make brush strokes to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. That said, if you’re just in the mood to relive Okami in HD with the same controls as you had on your PS2, you can also play with your traditional PS3 controllers.

To top things off, we know everyone loves Trophies, so Okami HD will support PS3 Trophies, (including a Platinum) giving you new challenges to face and feats to complete. Okami HD will be available for download exclusively on PS3 in North America and Europe this fall.

Great game and all, but I'm not going to pay to replay it in HD. I'd rather have a new game

Oh boy, yet another wonderful Capcom port where all the devs did was change the line that said "480i" to "720p". HD!

But fuck, they had to add a platinum trophy, so that's a get for me.

Not even for the trophies? Or to resell your physical copy?

I don't care about trophies and don't understand why anyone does. The copy that I played was actually borrowed, so I can't sell it. Since you mentioned that, I realize that I don't technically own the game, so maybe I would actually buy it. I just have no desire to replay the game.

I'd just rather have something new from them. Okamiden was fun!

Don't get me wrong; it's good that they're doing this. People will buy it, they'll make money, and some people who've never played the game before will get to play it.

I for one loved Okami but didn't care to beat Okamiden. It felt like playing Spirit Tracks where you had to drag along Zelda for every freaking dungeon, that and the game didn't feel like it was made to use a d-pad for movement. I'm assuming the game feels alot better on a 3DS due to the analog.

I just can't stand babysitting games. What I'm wondering is if we're getting a reversion of the ps2 or wii version. I noticed the paper effect isn't as heavy which would indicate Wii, but I think there was a rerelease for the Wii version that put the credits back in and all the Clover logos.

Really not looking forward to collecting the 100 stray beads again. =/

As long as "Move Support" doesn't mean it's required, I'll snag this. Never did play the original.

This. Okami is one of those games I regret not playing after all the great reviews it got.

I completely missed the hype, but ended up with a ROM of it as my dad is some kind of obsessive Wii pirate for no reason... and my girlfriend ended up fucking obsessed. I would honestly compare it to Ocarina of Time (with or without nostalgia goggles).

It basically was PS2's Zelda. It also had a bitchin' soundtrack to boot, and was looooooooooooong.

Only thing I could ask from this port are two things.

    1) Retain the paper overlay look, or make it an option
    2) Allow you to speed through dialog on first playthrough like the Wii release allowed. Game took WAY too long to start on the original PS2 release since you had to sit through dialog at its own slow pace.

Here's to hoping that they speed up the dialog text a bit. It almost feels like "L........i........t........t........l........e... .....M........o........n........e........y" to me

Day one buy. Just wish there was a collectors box. One of my top ten favorite games in existence.
