Does it have a friend? Kalashnikov would do the same. Keep me up, every 4hrs, until I got him Persephone to burn energy on.

Water bottle!
Play with it before you go to bed for about 30 min or so to make it tired. If its still waking you in the middle of the night it might be wanting food or water. I keep my cats on a strict food schedule and works well.
They get 2 cups of food split between two bowls in the morning, then 1 cup split before I go to bed.
Also does the cat have any toys???
I went ahead and bought that gigantic dome cat box. So far our fatty is taking to it. I hope it will solve the issue of her pissing on the floor.
Here is a picture of her around 5 months old.
And here is from about 3 months ago so she was around 8 months old or so. This isn't the best picture, but she's even bigger now. We expect her to be a pretty obese cat!

Hope it works out for you. Its one of the better boxes I've used.
Bumping this instead of making a separate thread.
For the past 24hrs or so, an incredibly friendly stray (?) cat has been hanging around our house. It's affectionate to the point of absurdity, follows anyone around rubbing against them non-stop (had to hold it while my brother pulled out of the drive way so it wouldn't get run over...), and tries to follow us in the house. If you sit down with it, it will plop down with you, roll around, climb on you, etc. Judging by how it acts, and how deathly skinny it is, I assume it's an abandoned/lost pet? It doesn't have a notch in it's ear thou. Not sure if I should contact an animal shelter. Any expert opinions beyond throwing a water bottle at it?
It's been sitting on our porch all night. Fed it a can of sardines since that's all I had on hand that I imagine it could eat.
EDIT: It's female, so no idea if it's fixed.
If you're not keen on adopting it, calling a shelter is fine. In the mean time, give it some food and water. I'm not sure what you can give it that won't be bad for it aside from cat food. Canned tuna should be okay, i think. I've never heard of notching the ears to mark it as a pet. That's what collars and microchips are for.
That's pretty much exactly how I got my cat. I came to the depressing conclusion that she was probably an old lady's lap cat the family didn't know what to do with. Mine was in really good shape when I got her, and I've since also come to the conclusion that she was definitely being groomed thoroughly and regularly, as I have to take really good care of her hair every single day.
Ask around your friends and stuff, if you don't want it yourself and none of your friends are interested in taking care of it, call the ASPCA and ask them about good shelters in your area.
You can also ask them or search around the net for no-kill shelters near you, but you'll probably need to be willing to take care of it for a bit until there's an opening at one.
The animal shelter we got our cats from in upstate NY when I was a kid did that (a tiny triangle nick in one ear). I assumed that was standard since I've seen a lot of other cats like that, I guess not thou. I would feed it tuna fish if we had any, there's really nothing I have to feed it until I can get to the store tomorrow.
Do animal shelters normally take 'stray' cats? I guess it can't hurt to call around tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure the shelter in my town is no-kill, I'll have to check it out.
ITT: Plow thinks enclosures that a college kid could live in are called "cages".
Just needs to give it up already.
Less posts trying to berate Plow and more awesome cat pics please!
