Maeby i got a cat. Your advice, give me it. EDIT: WATER BOTTLE AT THE READY FYI

First off: I'm not getting her declawed, and i have many water bottles to hit her with.

She's a stray and is apparently extremely cuddly. Which will be perfect for my dog to get along with. I was gonna get her two weeks ago but someone messaged my friend before I could, then I got a text today saying "Still want her?"

    hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

    edit: look at that pussy

    Spoiler: show
    halp

edit: my dog loves the cats around the apartment complex and he's the most chill dog ever. He won't have a problem adjusting to anyone new(my parents have four maltipoo dogs, so he's extremely used to small shits already.) and the cat is already used to dogs.

Confine her to one room to start, let her adjust and become familiar, and slowly introduce her to more of her living space. Make sure dog and kitten get along well. Provide her lots of entertainment and engagement, play with her and leave her things she can play with on her own.

If she makes a mess outside the litterbox, don't yell at her or rub her in it trying to punish her. Be patient, check the litterbox is very clean (incase she's finicky), and make sure she has access to it at all times. If she's small, might not want to have the anti-spill lid that attaches to most to prevent the cats from pawing the litter out of the box, since they have to jump over that to get in at their small size rather than merely step over it.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

to go with the litter box thing, first thing you should do when you bring her in is put her in the box. This will let her know right of the bat where she's supposed to go and should help prevent any accidents. Also, is she going to be an indoor or outdoor kitty? make sure she gets her shots if outdoor.

Sep hit it on the head. Separate the kitten from your dog for a few days. Keep the kitten in a room on it's own. This way they can both get used to each other's scents. My cat was a feral kitten and we had to do that to keep our two older cats from tearing him to shreds. After about a week or so we allowed him to go out into other rooms but at night we put him back into the spare bedroom. After about three weeks he had the run of the house.

I'll edit the OP to say it, but my dog loves the cats around the apartment complex and he's the most chill dog ever. He won't have a problem adjusting to anyone new(my parents have four maltipoo dogs, so he's extremely used to small shits already.) and the cat is already used to dogs.

However, gonna constantly remind my dog that he's my #1 though.

You should treat him like top dog because

    Dog>cats

Also cats that grow up with dogs are way better then normal cats. I had a cat that was raised with my 2 pugs and it played like a dog all the time, had to get rid of it tho kept trying to fuck up my leather couch.
Also don't let it be boss of the counters, fucking hate people that let the cat walk around with its piss/shit paws on top of tables and shit.

Very cute kitteh! but even if she is used to dogs, it is still good to leave her in one room for a couple days just to get her acclimated to your place. Also if clawing things are ever an issue, then you should get some soft-paws to put on her.

    very adorable!

One thing i noticed though, is her left eye in that pic is a bit lazy and watery, like she might have an eye infection. It might be nothing, but it might be something like a malformed tear duct... my first cat had one of those, and we had to use an eye wipe thingie to clean the sleepy sand that built up after a while or he'd be irritated trying to get it off himself.

Best to check and see if it's actually irritated or not, and if so, keep a look out to see if it clears up or not.

    ahmagahd want

take her to the vet right away plz, get her checked out, get any shots she's ready for, find out how soon she should be spayed, get kitten anti-flea stuffz, etc.

best advice I can give that hasn't been mentioned is to give her a special spot up off the floor, preferably by a window; not only will she love it but giving her a specific spot like that can keep her off your tables and counters and stuff

also getting her using a scratching post early can be just as important as litter box training

Just going to restate that it's important for the eye to be looked at. Could be nothing and she'll grow out of it, but it's better safe than sorry.

Not sure why people rage about the cat on counter thing. It takes all of 3 seconds to clean the counters before you do anything.

As far as the cat goes, I second confining her to one room for at least a week. The first day keep her away from the dogs and dont let her out of the room, but you need to interact with her a lot.

Past that, you need supervised outings into the house. I wouldnt show her the dog until after a week unless she seems super chill.

What a coincidence. I just brought home 2 kittens today too. They are not used to humans at all and are very scared. Any way to ease them into liking me and not being so scared? They spent about 7-8 weeks outside till now.

    Post moar pictures

Scratching post, I can't stress that one enough. Although she may be very young, if you have nice leather furniture or anything of the like I would suggest the scratching post. They are inexpensive, and can range from $10-$200 (if you want to buy a nice little kitty house, with scratching boards/pads, etc)

My fiance brought a kitten home to my demise, now its my gaming buddy and I love it to death. But in the early days she tore my leather sofa apart, until we trained her on the scratch pads. Just an fyi

oh and post moar pics, cute cat is cute

Warm Milk, some treats, etc. Pet them and be comforting! give them a nice spot to relax and let them get used to the surroundings
