It must be Fannon, from what I remember, Bahamut was associated with Vahzl. I am going to continue watching CoP cutscenes to freshen up my memory of the lore and see if anything is stated or even implied though.

I don't think SE intended that to be Bismarck. Rather, it's a reference to a fish for fishermen to catch. Namely.....Gugrusaurus.
Remember, before ToAU was released, the only spots to catch Gugrusaurus were on the Selbina/Mhaura ferry during a Pirate attack, and on the ferry from Bibiki Bay to Purongogo <sp?> Isle. When the ferry between Mhaura and Aht Urghan Whitegate was added, it gave fishermen another option to catch Gugrusaurus.
Because of this, when I look at the concept art for SoA, I always look at any "fish" looking thing as a new "Legendary Fish" to catch.
Amano just draws random shit. I don't think it has any purpose.
Amano cannot draw normal airships, all his airships look like the fucking Invincible from FF9
Amano has a style that is unique to him, and while he may get carried away sometimes. And by "sometimes," I mean "all the damn time." Rob Liefield on the other hand is incapable of drawing anything that resembles human anatomy, especially feet, legs, hands, arms, waists, hips, chests, breasts, shoulders, necks, heads, or faces. (Which is everything.) He also cannot draw realistic animals, vegetables, or minerals. The ability to draw common household items still eludes him as well.
My point being, if you look at an Amano drawing of a person, you can look at it and say "that is a person." Whereas if you see a Rob Liefeld drawing of a person you will say, "egads, this grotesque, misshapen clump of what I can only assume is tumors will haunt my nightmares until the end of my days and perhaps longer; only the most vicious and base of demi-humans would loose this foul, wretched, abomination set to paper upon an ill-prepared world."
Complaining that surrealism doesn't look like things is so nouveau riche gauche.
Shut up and buy $20k paintings of the evil bitch from Yatterman, or a $40k sculpture of a robot panther-rat.
560$ for a bobby hill drawing

I like how Amano draws. He has a huge penchant for detail. Notice how his characters have numerous little nuances, beads, accessories, bracelets, chains, jewels, silks. His men and women are heavily accessorized, probably infleunced by near eastern and indian culture. I love how Amano draws women too. Every woman he draws is some kind of well-adorned, sultry empress or monarch with all-knowing, tired eyes, and an expression of being bored of everyone and everything in the world. I hate and love the way he draws women with such a surreal air of confidence because no women in the world is confident enough to give that kind of eye delivery. Those bored, lackadaisical, half-moon eyes that piece right through you.
Spoiler: show
Sorry to bump a 2 month old thread, but I find this very interesting. Maybe all or some of the ones you all have talked about will appear in the new expansion coming out?
Just because their not talking about it much does not mean it's not being worked on and that it will still be release in the timeframe given. At the most you could argue that it's probably not coming out Q1 of 2013 because not much has been said but even that is mostly guessing.
I can pretty much agree that a general lack of info is not a good sign. It's been what, closing on 3 months now? And all we really know is that there'll be a couple new jobs, one still incredibly vague in function with the other basically being RDM/SCH mating with BRD. There was also some artwork for a few mobs. They could at least drop some teasers about the Adoulin city, maybe what's stirring for the intro missions, and more specifics on their whole "exploration system" or whatever I'm paraphrasing that'll apparently lead to areas evolving.
Heck, some would just be happy knowing Fire Weather would be common there, fuck other aspects.
i dont think they're ready to do any of that yet...
im guessing they'll do a traditional hype up to the release in the 3 months before it..
I'm thinking like how they did it with ToAU and its teaser site (which was amazing for its detail about something new. or maybe nostalgia kicking in) as compared with WotG. (which wasn't quite as good, but perhaps the problem lay with the structure of the site, and even the expansion).
I'm guessing it'll be at least August next year before Adoulin hits.. or maybe even as late as Nov or Dec.
Now is probably just too early to hype. I can't wait because theres gonna be a whole lot of mining ahead.
Sure hope it isn't Nov/Dec, that'd be far too late
Frankly even August might be too late. They're not adding enough content to sustain the game right now and people are growing increasingly bored. It's possible that Adoulin could see the same kind of resub boom that Abyssea did, but I wouldn't bet on it now. They need to match or beat XIV 2.0's release schedule, which gives them a somewhat vague (on our end) but still fairly pressing deadline. At a guess I'd say June or July for XIV, so probably a May release date for Adoulin.
It's the same company for both games. I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't hyping it now or plan on releasing it any time soon because they want people to go play FFXIV first. After people play FFXIV 2.0 for a while then they will give FFXI something. I doubt they would want any attention being taken away from their attempted revival of the colossal failure that is FFXIV.
