Les Miserables (December 14, 2012)

I don't know how I'll make it through the film, most of those clips had me in tears.

Same for me and the wife. So many manly tears will be shed on 12/26. Hell I was bawling the first time I saw the musical.

Among other musicals brought to the big screen, I'd love to see Miss Saigon done as well. The helicopter scene at the end had me tearing up bad.

Ya... we just got back. Its incredible. Honestly I think Hathaway stole the show.... again. Also, Russell Crowe was perfect, even if his singing wasn't perfect. The ending shot....

I was honestly afraid they would screw up Javert's suicide, but honestly the crack of his body hitting the concrete I felt fit in with everything. His whole psyche was shattered over the humility and forgivness Jean gave him in not taking his life when he had the chance, so only fitting his body gets shattered as well.

Was full on crying during the finale, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. If you weren't crying at that, you are not human. And fuck the haters, I think Crowe was great considering he was completely out of his element. Hathaway absolutely stole the show though. If she doesn't win all the awards, then it's a gross miscarriage of justice. Jackman also did great, as expected. Only thing that really bothered me was the inconsistency of Thenardier's accent. Other than that minor detail, the entire cast did an amazing job.

When I noticed Colm Wilkinson was the Bishop of Digne, I nearly shat a brick. Mainly because

I was in our High School's production of Les Miserables (Bishop of Digne...

It took me a minute, but I'd recognize that voice anywhere. For those who don't know, he played Valjean in the original London cast.

Also, bitch sitting next to me apparently had an alarm set on her phone that actually went off during Empty Chairs at Empty Tables. All of my FUCKING RAGE.

We had a black family behind us, who apparently haad never seen the musical. Not only did they talk throughout the movie and say "what the fuck is this" when the singing started, they also laughed through Javiet's big solo (which is my favorite part) ive never raged so hard in a theatre before. We also had a little old lady in front of us smoking an electronic cigarette the entire time. Smelled like ground pepper and vicks rub.

For a sensory experience, we loved it, but we were also miserable the entire time (no pun intended). We plan on going again, at a better spot.

Ignorant people is the exact reason I tend to avoid movie theaters, but I do plan on going to see this on my next day off (Friday). I am surprised we have so many BGers who are into musicals. I grew up dancing and singing so I've always gravitated toward musical theatre.

Out here it depends on the theater. The one closest to me is pretty much fucking ghetto, to the point they have two armed guards outside since a fight breaks out pretty much every other weekend. So it's either drive 15 miles to yuppieville or or 20 miles to yuppyville light to see a movie.

Saw it yesterday during my Christmas double feature(along with Django) and loved it. Also the soundtrack is on Amazon for 5 bucks download if you're a fan of the music. I also thought Russell Crowe was really good even with his musical background I didn't have super high expectations of him but he did not disappoint.

I knew he had a band or something, didn't know he was in musical theater though. Thought he was film actor before all that, too. Haven't really read much about him though. So I guess that would explain that.
And I still don't think he did as poorly as some people seem to.
