Bed bugs are so sensationalized nowadays, it's highly unlikely you'll pull a giant, bug infested lazyboy from a rich person's curbside. Instead, you'll probably just find a leather sofa with a few scratches on it that they couldn't be bothered with to repair.

Between bed bugs and the whole mass hysteria over the pounds of your dead skin magically accumulating in your mattress, you'd have to buy new, overpriced furniture every year just to calm down the OCD that lives in us all.

I don't get why people in this thread care so passionately about what food other people eat? Who cares? It's not you eating it.

The food was going to waste anyway. If anything I almost feel it's commendable for putting it to some use (within reason; if you make yourself dead/sick you're obviously going too far), particularly when the food is perfectly fine otherwise. But massive wastes of food is becoming a pet peeve for me, I guess.

I've never even considered dumpster diving (and hopefully never would have to), but I hate wasting food. It just irks me; and it's depressing how much this country wastes. I literally eat myself to sickness (tough to do, can scarf down a 3k cal meal pretty easily) before I throw something out. I draw the line at visible mold (or funky smell), but otherwise I'll typically even push the limits on older food. Most food lasts far longer than many seem to realize; I don't even remember the last time I threw something out. Hasn't back-fired at all either... only had one case of food poisoning that was under an unrelated scenario.

Came back last night from Trader Joes with 3 packages of hamburger rolls that arnt set to even expire for 2 more days (all plastic wrapped with no tears or anything in packaging or any mold on any of them) and 2 baguettes that were completely fine as well. Make some shit with them today, making sliders for dinner and turning one of the baguettes into croutons and shit. There was a lot of meat and fish, but none of it was cold so that was a no go. We found 8 packages of this kids toy in one dumpster, nothing wrong with the toys, no discoloration or anything no stains, but apparently when they threw them away they cut off one of the ears half way. Not sure if it was a recall item or they were just being jackasses and didn't want to donate them.

Also found 2 of those tarp things you put up for outdoor activities for family shit in the boxes, in their protective bags with no tears or anything on them.

Back in college a few of my friends were pretty into the whole dumpster diving thing. One night we scored an entire ice cream cake. It was delicious.

Sure as fuck didn't come back from your job with good taste or a sense of humor though.

I personally never heard of dumpster diving before and after seeing that documentary I understand how much of an ingenious plan it is for people with low income to have a much better nutrition. People that would otherwise be eating unhealthy food are now able to have a balanced diet AND have their friends benefit from it.

Now go to your job, earn money, pay for food/rent/other expenses for your family and see how much money is left for "whatever you want".

    Answer :
    Spoiler: show
    Not much

(see how retarded you look for using spoiler tags to make the same exact joke that was in every page of this thread?)

Now I'm not personally gonna do it, but I don't see why people would have a problem with it. How does it influence your life that would make you be against it?

my problem with this entire thread is... you guys literally have no idea as to why these people are throwing this shit away you're just assuming it's the best case scenario.. I mean literally it could be any fucking reason, not that any of you peasants give a fuck though.. happy hunting.

They now have the power to control what is thrown away to build a well balanced diet? That's interesting.

archi is trying to portray himself as one of those smartasses who think their "hard work" got them where they're at and all the whiners without good jobs are just lazy. The same crackers who end up overdosing on pills, dying of alcohol poisoning, or something equally undramatic when shit hits the fan and they lose their precious lifestyle due to layoffs. Those who've never been without, fall the hardest. Being completely indifferent to people struggling or simply strapping down and being frugal to actually save money in this shit economy is just plain ignorant. Maybe if your name was Solanis, it would make more sense, but I know you're not sitting on six-figures in your savings lol

If you're poor as fuck and digging food out of dumpsters is actually a valuable and necessary use of your time, go for it.

But if that's the case, you probably aren't posting via the internet on a video game website. Or you make poor choices.

yeah let's not kid ourselves, these people aren't the starving struggling Americans, they're dirty hipsters who think the rest of America has jaded views. These people can afford food.. shit they had high speed internet and probably all sorts of fun toys. These people are making conscious decision to live like this.

Wonder how many dumpster diving hippies are posting from overly expensive Apple devices in this thread alone? Doubt they found them in the back of the mall.

I kinda like it, but he'll fuck it up and be terrible shortly, if history is any indicator.
