    I had my ears pierced around the age of 12, during the "women's day" ritual my family did. After my sister and I first started our period we each got 1 day to start doing "adult" things, like piercing our ears and choosing some new clothes. Believe it or not, I think my mom got the idea from the Cosby show >.> Whatever the case, I plan to do something similar when my daughter starts her period. She's kinda on the fence right now about wanting/not wanting her ears pierced, but she has some time yet to decide.

    I loved having mine pierced. Friends were so fucking jealous lol. Really though outside of the whole getting caught on something, I am pretty ambivalent to the whole thing. I don't think I've met any girl who had emotional issues because their parents pierced their ears as a baby or as a preteen so I don't think it matters too much. But hey if it gets the mother-in-law to shut up about it I'm all for it.
