Decent night tonight. Found 3 downed copters (2 while we were lost), with 2 LA85A2 AWS and a shitty Bison, was expecting more ammo there, but each copter only had a gun each. Had to hit up the NW airfield to get some mags after. Friend logged off for the night after we did barracks/fire station/control tower. I decided to hit up the hangers to see if I could get a couple more STANAG mags. Found 3 dead players outside in between the 3rd and 4th hanger. But even after checking the surrounding area with thermal, I was not feeling lucky so I booked it out. Bad part is, friend lost the his LA85 when we swapped servers due to massive desync =/

/Really want a compass or GPS now. I can't believe how lost I've gotten. Fucking ended up at Devil's Castle trying to get to the NW airfield from Stary.

So, I know I'm playing this game wrong as I've only found one pistol and one rifle, ever. Is there an initial build order, so to speak, when starting out fresh on the beach?

Its mostly whatever you come across. When I respawn, I usually will kill myself until I'm near either Cherno, Elektro, or the Airstrip at Balota. I stay near the coastal cities until I have this basic starting list:

Rifle: AK variant, cz550, or remington 1866
Pistol: Anything works
Supplies: Larger backpack, matches+hatchet+knife or 4-5 cans of food, 2 water bottles or 3-4 cans of soda
Med supplies: I try to get 2 morphines, at least 4 bandages, and at least one pain pills/heat pack/epi pen/blood bag

Those are the basics I aim for to be self-sufficient, if I can find the knife/hatchet/matches early and a gun I may leave before getting very much else.

Obviously the cities and airstrip are the most dangerous places to run into when you are unarmed, but it really doesn't matter. I regularly run into cherno/elektro in the middle of the day on 30+ pop servers and never see another person.

If you spawn near Kamyshovo, run to the hunting stand on the hill and then to Rog. It should help get some supplies and usually a weapon before you hit up a major town.

There is no need for a heat pack if you have matches/hatch just make a fire and stand on it (Seriously you won't burn it's like they missed this or something) and your heat will fly right up.

Are you able to determine your spawn location simply by looking around and checking for land marks? Or is there some map function I'm not aware of.

As you spawn in, it shows your location in the lower right hand corner.

The signs in game are the second names on the map. Find a sign in-game, then find the word on the map, presto you've located yourself. It also shows the spawns of every building.

Haha this game's getting frustrating. Just got it on Sunday, and so far the only gun I've found was a crossbow (which glitched away when I tried throwing it in my pack). Almost every single person I've come across has murdered me.

Highlight so far was on my very first life... while roaming around town someone pulled up in a truck, got out, and ran toward a building. While he was gone I promptly stole the truck and went for a joyride, mowing down zombies as I went. :D

I'm gonna head over to the server you mentioned in hopes of finding people that won't kill me instantly lol. Name is Locuro in-game.

Quit and rejoin, or find another server. It's a server issue/memory leak problem, so there's not much you can do about it.

Fixed it, seems was just a shitty server. Also fml getting a bunch of good shit and then the entire town becomes a fucking warzone with explosions and shit and I get sniped while trying to sneak a few extra provisions away from the blasts.
