anyone rented a server? my buddy rented one a few days ago, tonight they finally sent him the email saying it was up. it was from dayzhosting.com

all he had was an ip, we couldn't figure out a way to direct connect to an ip at all.

does anyone know if there is an extra step in the process that we're missing in linking the ip address of the server that they setup with the launcher?

In the server browser, click remote and type in the IP address, along with the port.

alpha, need to buy arma ii + expansion on steam, then go to http://dayzmod.com/?Download and follow the instructions for installation. then you'll probably want to post here to find someone to play with so they can give you a clue about wtf is up.

the game is extremely unforgiving, and some of the systems are overly convoluted and confusing, like the inventory/backpack system.

when i first started, like many others, i spawned into complete darkness, couldn't figure out how to use my flash light and then ran around til i got eaten by zombies.

since then i've died maybe 4 times, but each time i've learned alot about the game and how to approach different situations without dieing. i went from not being able to find equipment, to being able to scavenge cities without any way to defend myself and then gained the ability to travel from city to city using the dayzdb map by spotting landmarks along the way.

probably one of the biggest things you'll gain over time is the ability to spot building you can enter and loot, someone said something yesturday here that helped me a great deal, any building that you can see through the windows to the interior is one you can enter, if you can't see through the windows dont bother trying to find the door of the place.
