DayZ - To be released in 2016

I've had a lot of problems on 1378, and sometimes just trying to log onto it at all I get the loading screen forever. I've been playing on 848. It's been really smooth every time I've logged in on it, but I'm willing to join another server if someone has a favorite. I'd like to just have someone to run around with lol.

Found an ATV today on the side of town. Fully repaired 80% filled with gas, with an AS50, two kinds of FN FALs, a stachel charge, and some other stuff. Jackpot. On 1378.

Well, I gave this game a shot and I came away totally unimpressed. I know it's an alpha, but holy shit at all the glitches and bugs.

I think most of my negative first impression is due to how complex the controls are. I'm not a WASD fps player, never have been ... and in a game like this, customizing the controls creates so many conflicts with other controls, I bet it took me45 minutes to get all that worked out. Then actually getting into the game itself .... it spawned me what seemed like miles away from anything. I figured buildings would be the best place to find a gun, but in spite of looking through various buildings for more than an hour (and dying about 8 times) I found nothing but empty tin cans, empty soda cans, and some shotgun rounds I couldn't use.

I know the game's tough to get into, huge learning curve, etc. but this just wasn't fun, lol. I'll try again tomorrow.

Oh yeah, and any game that you have to fucking search YouTube to learn how to respawn, needs work!

The learning curve is indeed big. I put in probably half a days to a days worth of hours before I had a handle on how to properly play. The controls are quite decent once you get used to them; there isn't much that I'd want to change.

Also as for my black loading screen of doooom before, I was able to get past it by using Six Launcher for some reason. After getting into the server once I was able to join it again using my other normal means like DayZ Commander.

I was doing a decent job starting off at night time just now, as I was able to sneak around this town and pick up some matches, food, ammo, and an extra bandage. Unfortunately, while I was still crawling around looking for loot-able houses, some hacker killed everyone on the server at the same time. It's the second time something like that has happened to me, and it's sort of annoying that people are be such dicks for no reason on this game sometimes.

Did my first NW airfield run tonight... Killed my partner in the fire station due to him getting disconnected and then him logging in without his savior skin on. Took two bullets to the face

After getting killed in the first hanger next to fire station by a rival group. Our group was able to kill 1 and then our leader was taken out by their sniper, whom got countered by our 2nd sniper. Our sniper found 3 bodies (3rd guy was killed by zombies?) and got a nice rare silenced rifle, NVGs, tons of silenced ammo, and gps.

As our leader came back to the airfield for his body (got lucky with a bike spawn) he was leaving the airfield and found that groups ATV loaded with fuel, parts, and other gear. I was able to get picked up again and dropped off to camp.

Not a bad night lol.

What do you mean? DayZ Commander updates both Arma2 Beta and the DayZ mod.

Commander doesn't make you, you have to choose to update. Six updates you before you can pick a server to join. It's possible to try to play via Commander and have an outdated version, but not possible with Six.

Also Six Updater currently doesn't update you to 1.7.2.5 while DayZ Commander allows you to. The black loading screen of dooooom occurs after you've connected to the server, and after you pressed okay to get into the server.

Yeah, I've experienced it too. I'm not really sure what causes it as I'm always updated and I only used Six until recently. I'm going to blame it on beta-ness.

I'd say the same about Deadgye, but nametags are turned off on 1378 so you all need to identify yourself if I'm not mistaken. I need to go about finding out how to make the in-game communication work.

Last night I was on 1378 and it was pitch black. I could barely see five feet in front of me, so I made a fire and sat by it. After ten minutes I wondered why the fuck I didn't just log off lol
