I must have met a particularly special example of the Texas school system then. She didn't even know what the Pope was. When I attempted to find out why, I discovered she hadn't had a World History class.

She was a Junior at the time, I believe. I could be wrong about that, though. It was all quite some time ago.

Well when I was in 7th grade in 1987, I was taught Texas history. Then world history in 8th grade. Maybe they changed things since then?

Seems likely. I found it particularly amusing that she didn't know what the Pope was... because she's Catholic.

How do they stretch Texas History into a full year of academic learning? It just seems like there's not enough significant history there to make a one year curriculum.
