I thought titanss was smashing and I was gonna brofist him so hard.
That song is my anthem.
Yo Leroy, I'm gunna be in Florida in 2 weeks. When we chillin?
Also I approve of that Hood_Nigga post
I hadn't pulled pussy like that in.. umm never
that bitch is like a 9.1
because people don't put cancer in their body, not directly at least, as there's a chance that what gives someone else cancer, may not give it to someone else
I think there's a lot of stigma because of people's views and perception of just how much agency and responsibility there is, and plus the things that people are willing to do in order to maintain their lifestyle
not many people pulling scams to support their cancer lifestyle
I mean, even as someone who has had their own struggles with being overly attached to certain behaviours (never addicted, oh no, never that) I struggle viewing those behaviors or even some mental health aspects as a disease
I have often felt weak in my choices and I feel like it's a copout or like I coulda shoulda done something different. Feeling like that I don't really expect someone to say oh ok, it's a disease, you're not accountable for your actions
And not everyone who has an addiction to drugs has done horrible things
chemically? no, I have not suffered through that
and while I don't have a sex addiction, I've struggled with a similarly less tangible addiction compared to people who are addicted to a substance. I do understand being willing to sacrifice nearly everything in your life in order to pursue the only thing that feels like it makes life tolerable
It does just happen to you, there are people predisposed to becoming addicts. People don't go out and be all 'hey I want to go get addicted to crack today', Sure they made the choice to smoke the crack, but there are people who will do it, decide for whatever reason to never smoke the crack again or never become addicted to it and be just fine smoking crack occasionally while keeping a healthyin tact life. Then there are those people who are chemically predisposed to requiring the crack physically and mentally.Spoiler: show
I don't think you can justify the shit some of these places do to their patients just because they decided for whatever reason to inject some drugs into their veins and they may or may not have done something bad to fuel said addiction.
You don't see people living with HIV getting harassed in support groups because they decided to fuck a prostitute and ended up catching the dirty dirty.
Why should treatment centers have the right to do that?
Spoiler: show
And just because there is a stigma around drug use, doesn't make it any less wrong.
I feel as though you are correcting points I have not made. I disagree with none of what you have said
horrible post in this thread from you roark, step your game up
Make a tier list saying who needs to step their game up the most/ who are the people currently posting the most underneath their potential
I'm just happy rehab saved me from jail today. I slept 0 last night and shit 4 times throughout the night, fuck i was nervous
not sure why I should respond to things I agree with and correct things I never said
I think both non-addicts and addicts themselves have trouble with the legitimization of an addiction as a disease. I'm not saying it is a copout, but I feel like it is one in regards to myself. When people want to say, oh it's a disease, I think, oh hey I got away with it -- and not "oh man, finally my rights have been vindicated as a human being."
At no point did I comment on the state of corrective and assistive facilities, how addicts are or should be treated, and Odon is making specific points about those facilities and their staff -- so I very much do feel he is correcting points I have not made
If anything I've said comes across as less than sympathetic, it is from a mindset of personal struggle, perhaps guilt and/or shame (or even simply feeling like I should have those feelings even if I don't). At no point am I advocating mistreatment of addicts, but merely shedding light on the trouble with the perception of addicts versus so-called "more legitimate" diseases
I maintain there is a crucial point of agency, but do recognize that some people are pre-disposed toward addictions in general or of a specific compound or behaviour. The agency does not erase sympathy but I think it's where the issue becomes complicated, in the eyes of the person struggling with addiction, and those around them
