Weird text and crash.

Everytime I try playing again I always run into a new problem. *sigh*

Clicking anything causes it to crash.

Clicking POL does this.

It worked fine shortly after I downloaded/updated I logged out to mess with windower but kept getting that error. Then decided to just activate windowed mode in the ffxi config. Then that started happening. I went back to default settings but it is still doing it.

Disabled my firewall, disabled MWB and SAB still nothing. Any ideas? Trying to make uninstalling and reinstalling my last resort too. ><

The whole please check access privileges leads me to believe you aren't running as admin, if you are I'd run a chkdsk.

I am running it as admin and it still won't load. I uninstalled, and reinstalled and still got the same error. I'm not really sure what's going on now.

Would say this is the sign of a soon to be dead hard drive due to the permission/can't write stuff, but I could be wrong. Would back everything you need up just in case and check to see if you have issues with other programs.

Everything else works just fine. Can log into Aion, Tera, C9 and Jade Dynasty with no problem. FFXI is the only one that seems to have issues.

Add: Did a Chkdsk. Came up clean with no problems. I even tried updating my drivers and what not and still having the problem. I've played FFXI on this laptop before and it worked fine. I don't know why its suddenly giving me a error. I downloaded FFXI from Steam, and the Vista POL version from the website. I had a old version of Windower though and since the site is down I couldn't update it. Kind of think when I tried using windower it messed something up. But after uninstalling Windower, redownloading and reinstalling FFXI and POL I'm still having the problem.

Do a check files in POL for POL and FFXI.

If that doesn't fix it, reinstall FFXI and POL.

Okay, everything is all fixed now. Aside from the Check Files for the graphics error I really have no idea how I managed to fix everything else. The make or break attempt for me was deleting Steam's POL folder and using the Windows 7/Vista POL and some how everything is fixed now.

Did the file check replace any files? If so, I'm sure that's what fixed it.

It found about 1k errors and fixed em all. Does anyone have a zip file for Windower tho? The updated one? x.x;

I don't have a zip file (I don't use windower) but might wanna check Windower's site.

If that doesn't help, I'll d/l it myself and slap it on Netkups for you. ^^

This kinda thing also makes me very reluctant to even think about buying the new expansion off Steam when it comes out. Phys copy off Amazon or GTFO, plz. ^^

Windower's site is down. =\ Only reason I use windower is to make my gear switches easier. x.x; Being a pack rat doesn't help me much. xD

Not sure, that is a .exe file. Since I don't use windower, can someone step up to the plate that does and can help please? (I'm out of my depth, here.) The only thing I can see on windower's board is that it says, don't install it to your playonline/ffxi folder. Some help there..

A idea though. I don't know if you know how to use IRC. If you do, try going to irc.ffochat.com #windower and see if anyone's awake. (I'm a REALLY, REALLY old hand at IRC.) At least for me that still works. I haven't seen anyone say a word but maybe you can get some attention.

[Edit] Also if this helps, here's a quote from a post called "HEY YOU! Read before posting!"

1) We can only help you if you're running Windower 3.431
2) Are you running as admin? No? Right click and "Run as administrator"
3) Make sure windower is NOT in your POL folder, and NOT in your Windows/System32 (no idea why someone installed there...) or someplace weird.
4) Are your video card drivers up to date? Go download them...
5) Can you login WITHOUT windower? If not, then it's a problem elsewhere...

Might wanna remember that before running to their channel.

[Edit] I got ahold of a friend of mine, Jahn, who uses windower (Tho he's been having a cuss-at-square-about-billing problem lately). Fixing this over AIM, hopefully we three can get this to a good conclusion.
