    Magian Trial Locations

Thought I'd start up a thread where we can share various locations inside and outside of Abyssea for various Magian Trial weapons and different methods (BLU burn etc). I saw there was one for staves a while back but not much for other trials and I noticed a lot of questions in the RQT about different spots for various relics/mythic/etc trials, including my own questions. I will try to update the OP and hopefully most of the information can be transferred to BG wiki so people can click a weapon and see the testimonies, as most of them are currently blank.

    Monster Type:

Arcana- (Acroliths, Bombs, Cardians, Caturae,Clusters, Djinn, Dolls, Evil Weapons, Golems, Iron Giants, Khimairas, Magic Pots, Mammets, Mimics, Snolls, Spheroids)
    Spoiler: show
Draylo- Room in the Shrine of Ru'Avitau(accessed via main central entrance, despot area) has about 6 spawns of Decorated Weapons that are weak and respawn quickly (5m), decent if solo.
    Spoiler: show

Khamsin- I've had good success in Ro'maeve. Lots of EP arcana around, can run around gathering and killing everything in the zone. Did them for relic WS kill trials, avatar BP kill trials, among other trials. Can also do repeating GoV for easy CP/tabs/merits while you're there.

    Septimus-
Clusters: The ones in Mount Zhayolm are the bomb-diggity. (Pun very much intended.)
Snolls: Several good camps in Uleguerand Range.

    Dasva-
Arcana pts up all the time in altepa dolls. Same with floating balls in Ule which are so squishy its sad

Beasts- (Behemoths, Buffalo, Cerberus, Coeurls, Dhalmels, Gnoles, Manticores, Marids, Opo-opo, Rabbits, Rams, Sheep, Tigers)
    Spoiler: show
Noodles355- Rabbits in Aby La Thiene for light staff beasts. Link, not very dangerous, not much HP. Bashed out two trials there pretty quickly 2box sch+whm (and positive blm+whm would be super stupid quick).

Taim Meich- For Light staff beasts I did Xarca[s] pet tigers. You have like 4-6 gigas BST just by the campaign warp, and they die in the blink of an eye. I'm an advocate of abyssea for 99% of the trials, but I think this is one of the few cases out of abyss is faster.
-----Eastaran- Yup I just did this on SCH/WHM. With MP cost stratagems and sublimation I never ran out of MP. Pulled with Thunder 4, finished with Banish.

    Septimus-
For a general "beasts" trial, I like Rabbits and Tigers in Uleguerand Range. Near the entrance, only problems are the occasional Hound that spawns at night and avoiding magic aggro from snolls; still an amazing camp, especially when you have an ice weather trial.
    Spoiler: show
Buffaloes: Uleguerand Range around [D-8] is a nice spot, with the additional benefit of the occasional Bonnacon.
Coeurls: Toramas in Labyrinth of Onzozo. War Lynxes in Meriphataud Mountains (S). (The northeast area, as if you were headed towards Zi'Tah.)
Dhamels: Suck. Level sync to 23 and kill the ones in Tahrongi Canyon. (How I did my Carbuncle trial without going insane.)
Gnoles: A nice pocket of Decrepit Gnoles in Jugner Forest (S) from the telepoint to La Value (S).
Manticores: Greater Manticores in Cape Terrigan, the place off of the map near Cloister of Gales- bonus points for oh-so-very rare Fire Weather. There are a few Manticores that vary between too weak and easy prey in northwest part of Western Altepa Desert; if you know that fire weather may happen that day, you can kill the too weak ones to try to convert them to EPs to get a few kills in.
Marids: A nice cluster in Bhaflau Thickets [G -8].
Opo-Opos: Are the fucking devil. The only good alternative outside of Abyssea is in Ifrit's Cauldrin. But not a great alternative.
Rabbits: Moss Eaters in The Boyahada Tree. Bud's Bunnies in Ordelle's Caves may be a nice alternative.
Rams: Don't think that there are any Ram-specific trials, which is good, because there generally aren't a lot of rams around.
Sheep: Not many good options outside of Abyssea. You can level sync to 13 and kill them on Vomp Hill, or deal with Wild Karakul in Caedarva Mire. (Level syncing is a nice option for several SMN staff trials.)
Tigers: Uleguerand Tigers are nice and Wajaom Tigers are nice. I did Ovinniks in Kuftal Tunnel for an Ifrit Trail and it went very quickly.

Dasva- beast- pts all the time doing buffalo in ule

Lizards- (Adamantoise, Bugards, Efts, Lizards, Peiste, Raptors, Wivres)
    Spoiler: show
Xantavia- For lizards, there is always kuftal tunnel. Barely ep at 99, link like crazy, and a fair number of them. Back before GoV was added, a group could do maybe 100hr, using raptors in the basement while waiting for respawns. With 5min timer now, sure its much better

    Septimus-
Bugards: 4 in Vunkerl Inlet (S). That isn't a lot, but thunder and wind weather are very frequent in the zone, making it a great place to do a lizard trail on off days.
Peistes: Grauberg (S) or Passhow Marshlands (S), tons of them around.
Raptors: Uleguerand Range. There are TONS of them, extra bonus for ice-weather trials.
Wivres: Tons in Grauberg (S) to get through those wind weather trials.

Vermin- (Antlions, Bees, Beetles, Chigoes, Crawlers, Diremites, Flies, Gnats, Ladybugs, Scorpions, Spiders, Wamoura, Wamouracampa)
    Spoiler: show
Dasva- Vermin- sadly no one really pts on vermin anymore despite most of them being really squishy still as already mentioned lots of chigoes that are super squishy in attowha

    Septimus-
Antlions: Attohwa Chasm, roaming the bottom part of the west section, quite a few of them there.
Bees: (My god) Several ok camps for Worker and Soldier Pephredos in Wajaom Woodlands along with an awesome double hive around F/G-6.
Beetles: In Ordelle's Caves there is a nice camp at around H-11 on the first map (where you drop down), also a nice spot in Crawler's Nest in the circle room map around E/F-9. (Also Goblin's Beetles in Sauro (S).)
Chigoes: East of Nashmau in Caedarva Mire there are a few hiding around. (Not that great of a camp, just listing it in case you don't want to go to Abyssea.) Also a few in the bushes in Rolanberry Fields (S) around (F-7), not sure if enough to be viable.
Not sure if there is a viable Knight Crawler camp in Crawler's Nest anymore (used to be a fantastic camp in the Simurgh map). A few very good Magmatic Eruca camps in Mount Zhayolm, especially if you need an earth trial.
Diremite: The least awful non-Abyssea camp would be in Aydeewa Subterrane, which can go from "least awful" to "pretty good" if you need wind weather and it is summer in the game.
Flies: There are 6 Dragonflies hanging out in Rolanberry Fields (S) in the G-7-ish area. (Near the Planar Rift.) Not really enough for a melee, but can keep a SMN doing the Ramuh trial happy. Some in the Boyahada Tree as well. May be better off to go to Abyssea - La Theine.
Gnats: Are terrible. Do them in Abyssea.

Plantoids- (Flytraps, Funguars, Goobbues, Mandragora, Morbols, Rafflesia, Sabotenders, Saplings, Treants)
    Spoiler: show

Draylo- 5 mobs total, 3 Saplings and two Malboro just outside Aht Urghan on 5m respawn timer. Added bonus of wind weather if that is necessary.
    Spoiler: show

Dasva- plantoids- Also something you don't see people pting much on. I'd generally recommend mandies in mis however mandies are in alot of places that have weather so if you doing elemental I'd actually recommend somewhere else. Also to note alot of the fell cleavers do mandies in altepa so that may be an option

Aquans- (Crabs, Orobon, Pugils, Ruszors, Sea Monks, Toads, Uragnites, Poroggos)
    Spoiler: show
Dasva- Aquan you can often find frog pts in la thien assuming you don't need killshots.

Amorphs- (Flan, Hecteyes, Leeches, Sandworm, Slimes, Slugs, Worms)
    Spoiler: show
Ophannus - "For Amorph trials do Worms in Ulegurand or join a Worm party in La Theine and just spam Firajas on everything and take advantage of restore chests. (The best job to do this on is RDM, lock in your staff and MAB gear and just Chainspell Fire IV every thing to death, opening 2hr chests to refresh your MP and Chainspell. It took me like an hour or so to finish amorphs using Worm parties. "

Kensagaku- @Slimes: I noticed on thunder staves that someone mentioned slimes being painful. It's much easier than you'd think; go to Bostaunieux Oubliette and head to I-8/9, where there are six mousse that are now only on a five-minute timer. Gather them up, do a few AOE nukes, they die, rest. If Sewer Syrup pops, he's fairly easy to kill. If you need MP, bind him and then rest up. He goes down pretty quick from nukes though. Worked pretty well for me at 99.

Birds- (Amphipteres, Apkallu, Bat Trios, Birds, Cockatrices, Colibri, Giant Bats, Hippogryphs, Rocs)

Undead- (Corpselights, Corses, Doomed, Fomor, Ghosts, Hounds, Naraka, Qutrub, Shadows, Skeletons, Vampyr)
    Spoiler: show
Dasva- Undead is hounds in abysssea -attowha. At least for melee stuff. Low def weak to slashing drop HQ stalwarts often (gogo +50% att) aggro but don't link. But you got it to yourself which is good since you wont find a pt to leech undead kills off of usually lol. (though I guess maybe sync down in gusgen FOV pt?). Floating sperm things work decent too being super squishy and the ones in vunkrel don't seem as crazy with the casting and linking and aggroing everything lol

Dragons- (Abyssic Dragons, Dragons, Hydra, Puks, Wyrms, Wyverns, Pet Wyverns)
    Spoiler: show
Dasva- Dragons - puks in vunkerl. Lots of people pt there and they are about the squishiest dragons you can find.

Demons- (Ahriman, Dark Kindred, Dvergr, Gargouilles, Imps, Soulflayers, Tauri)

    Elemental Staff Trials-

Any Nyzul Isle => Arcana Pods (A-Mis Coast) => Beast Coeurl (A-Tahrongi) OR Tigers (A-Vunk) => Did cure from here, but most of these are abyssea mobs anyways
~Nynja- If you have access to a second character, you could always use Flash Nova for light damage killshots instead of relying on banish's shitty damage. Something most people overlook.

-Noodles355 Rabbits in Aby La Thiene for light staff beasts. Link, not very dangerous, not much HP. Bashed out two trials there pretty quickly 2box sch+whm (and positive blm+whm would be super stupid quick).

    Ice
    Any Tiger or Gigas (Xarc[S]) => Amorph Worms (Ulegrand) => Pods (A-Mis Coast) => Lizards (A-Mis Coast) => Bees (A-La Theine) => Crabs (A-Mis Coast) => Wyverns (A-Graub)

    Earth
Any (The Eldieme Necropolis) or (Batallia Downs [S]) => Pods (A-Mis Coast) => Plantoid Mandies (See Fire) => Did Magic ACC

    Dark (Cataclysm)
Any (Xarc [S]) OR Imps (Arrapago Reef) => Birds (A-Mis Coast) OR Apkallu (A-Mis Coast) OR => Sea Monks (A-Vunk) => Crawlers (A-Vunk) => Raptors (A-Mis Coast) => Leeches (A-Kon)

Not to naysay, but otherwiki usually couple viable camps listed on the specific trial page on the more popular magian trials.

Yeah I realize that, I thought it would be nice to have a centralized thread for it so we could put some on BG wiki to lessen use of the older one that is never updated. There is some missing from otherwiki such as non-abyssea related locations that could be useful to certain parties etc.

Some of my favorites from abyssea

amorphs- yeah worms pick your zone they all good for it lol

birds- people used to cruor pt over here on colibri, the brown birds and/or the bats all which count so taht could be good. Also triple bats in that zone are super squisy so theres that. Also alot of the cleavers here also do penguins in mis so again another option.

Dragons - puks in vunkrel. Lots of people pt there and they are about the squishiest dragons you can find.

    demons- probably imps in vunkrel

There was an old thread in the crafting forum with this similar information. However, that was during the Aht Whitegate era lol, was helpful.

Sept will have some good input for this, at least for the SMN side. Let me remember what I did for some of mine and I'll post them too.

For beasts you can do tiger pets in xarc_s they're literally right there when you warp in and they die super fast.

Not sure if they still ep but there was always rabbit pets in bibiki bay. Decently safer then xarc S and like never camped anymore. Actually using the blm pet solo guide is pretty decent for finding camps for trials especially if you are like on a mule or something so can't kill that fast anyways.

I think there might be goblin bats somewhere that are still ep for birds, bees for vermin. Also I know in saur S there is a whole bunch of beetle pets. There a couple of drgs you can poach in old aht urghan camps but they respawn slower than bst and smn pets. Also good place for elementals is sarubuta S. Like 4 smn pretty close.

Don't make me regret sharing some of my favorite camps! (Seriously, don't be dicks, team up.) Most of these are if you don't want to or can't go into Abyssea, but a lot of my favorite camps are competitive though.

    Arcana:
Clusters: The ones in Mount Zhayolm are the bomb-diggity. (Pun very much intended.)
Snolls: Several good camps in Uleguerand Range.

    Beasts:

I noticed on thunder staves that someone mentioned slimes being painful.

I did Den of Rancor for slimes, mainly because Bostaunieux Oubliette had a lot of competition for slimes back when I was doing trials. (Back during the 90 cap.) But with 5 minute repops, that sounds like a very good idea.
