What is the perfect setup for Glavoid, considering only farming Shells.

I was thinking NIN THF WHM? But is 1 whm really enough since Glavoid has pretty nasty moves. And wouldnt paladin be better for tanking him? Or should I add a 3rd DD? And would a RDM instead of a WHM do?

Only move you have to watch out for is Disgorge, and an attentive WHM/BLM can handle stunning and healing no problem as long as they time their cures carefully.

So I'm returning to the game after a 7 year hiatus. Decided to start with a war as that's what I played before and I forgot how bad the economy is in this game. How the hell is a brand new level 8 supposed to buy a level 8 great axe off the auction house! Any tips for war leveling would be great.

Try the NPCs instead. Pretty much any gear up until level 11 or so is by far cheaper than what you'll see on the AH. Lowbie characters have plenty of opportunities to make money by selling crystals (you are getting Signet, right?) and any other random drops (beehive chips are an insane 14k a stack on Levi). The training tomes also give money (once per day only?) when you complete them in addition to EXP.

Training tomes? Don't remember those, again been away a long time. And yeah I have been trying to do what quests I can find in Sandy, so far was able to get some new armor but no great axes.

Best way to get exp at lower levels (and higher too, if you want to avoid abyssea).

Is it possible to solo/duo these NM's for empy's upgrades:

Igebind, Orthrus , and Apademak.

Tips on how to fight these 3 and jobs and guides would be helpful since ffxiwiki.com isn't really helpful nor trustworthyl

Yes to Isegebind and Orthrus, I don't think you can solo Apademak, if you could reliably stun him then yes, but his Fulmination and -ga's can be nasty.

Isgebind and Orthrus are BST, typically Future Fabulous, RR and DG. Use Gooey for both, or can use gorefang for Isgebind or Raphie. I;ve solo'd both. Bring ALOT of Mulsums for Isgebind

Omni is spot on with his Bst stuff. While you can solo them, is it really time/cost/effort efficient to do so? Say for instance if you're looking at using 20 mulsums per fight @6k each, other pet food, and the cost of pets, that's bringing you to around let's just say 130k/fight minimum. In this instance, it may save time, effort, and frustration (imagine wiping @5% or less) to just get a group to merc them for you. I know it's not the popular choice, and I don't do it either, but if I really wanted it and had no other means to get it that's the route I'd go.

Most common practice with Apademek is to get a Brew, get access to as many accounts as you can or friends, get them Key Items, (It's only 1 KI for him so very easy), and pop all three at once and brew, then lock back onto a chest, and pop another 3 and brew. If you do it right, you can get 6 kills a brew, so potentially 10-12 Horns for 200,000 cruor. Not a bad trade off.

Edit: If you shout Free ardor +2's and WAR,DRK whatever else body just to hold a KI, you can get a couple people from jeuno shouts

You can also just put a DD party on it and embrava lock. Will die within a couple minutes tops if you have a stunner(or multiple if you want to make it nearly brew speed and stun tp moves as well). Also never pop 3 at once unless you have 3 dedicated stunners(why would you be brewing at this point then?), and you should be able to get much more than 6 kills pending on WS.

This is true, but when you go 0/19834987 on any pulsable and meaningful VW item, you tend to have a surplus of cruor available for brews.

Yeah, but that's also 520k gil being wasted for every brew. I'd rather get it done slightly slower than throw away gil.

I saw a LS mate yesterday solo Isgebind on his Aegis+Almace PLD sub RDM. Was an easy fight.

He simply boxed KI for Isge for both his main account and mule(SCH) and then goes to pop Isgebind and kills him easily. He finished his GK upgrade in 36hours like that.

Whats the benefit on using a Widowmaker? Seen alot of WAR's using it. So my Q is, why do people use them? Is it better than Bravura? Ukko?

It's much easier to get than either of those is the only benefit... but do yourself a favor and just grab one of the top level AH GA/GSwords instead until you either do a str magian or brav/rag/ukon

Another question. Whats better Bravura or Ragnarok. I've been seeing alota people having Ragnarok nowadays than back in 2007-2008. Whats the deal?

And about Cleaving. Whats a good setup for WAR Cleaving(TP/WS/-DT). I want to try making gil out of that.
