I think when I cleared the city VW, I did it in full sparks gear and 4 trusts. One of the RoV KIs in chapter 2 that dropped the price of displacers to 1k if you wanted extra insurance, or just wanted to zoom through those faster.
I've heard that titles cause a lot of problems with that site, as they never updated it to have many of the newer titles. Try setting it to a real old title and see if that makes a difference. I think logging out is what updates it?
Really struggling with the slow battle-pace after two years of playing XIV and some other stuff. I was gonna play a new char up from bottom and play a RNG which I hadn't done before, but now I'm not sure. What's the game state of RDM/WHM? I might just reactivate main and do things that way instead.
RDM does fine, I think the real issue is having people to hang out with. If you're still on Sylph and you need a pearl, lemme know.
Lame. That explains a lot, though.
Gave myself taisai title, removed all new gear (ie I just have like 2 things on), removed both lses. I changed SJ to see if it would update (since my job/sj shows on linkshell page), but it's been a few hours and no change. I even tried logging in/out.
If you wear anything from Adoulin and beyond, it'll show the slot being empty. I've noticed on FFXIAH that sometimes it shows me wearing nothing but Flume Belt, Defending Ring, Twilight Torque, and Hearty and Ethereal Earring. I think the same cutoff applies to titles, maybe even earlier, so I'd suspect you'd need something equally old. Killing classic NMs like Serket or Behemoth active it pretty often though.
Howdy everyone!
I started playing FFXI back in 2008 back on Fairy/Sylph and continued to do so until 2013. I had so many fond memories playing this with my friends that nothing will ever compare to again. We were reminiscing about this the other day and had me start looking into what was going on in the world to see if it was worth coming back. I had originally stopped playing because of my job taking up too much of my time to devote enough time to the game and the people I had regularly played with slowly stopped as well.
So here is my question, is it worth coming back to the game at this point? Was considered a pretty good WHM & WAR when I left, but I know I would have a lot of work to do to probably even be average now. Have an Ukon, though I have heard it got shit on by many updates/new weapons. Also have NIN, BLU, DRK, SAM, MNK, THF, SCH, & RUN. So have a good variety of characters that I'm sure would be useful if I could get the gear to make them relevant again and get a LS willing to help an old veteran return to his former glory.
Let me know your opinions!
As a 2004 vet, this game is completely different. I'm struggling to grasp the paradigm shift post-abyssea but if you're interested in exploring new mechanics and new means of questing/traveling I recommend trying it out again. Records of Eminence blew my mind, and the home point teleport system (a la FFXIV's aethernet) has cut out the drag most people did not enjoy about moving to events. What with the trusts and endless solo content, it's hard to differentiate raid style content...I've thrown myself unwittingly at bosses still meant for full parties/alliances, and likewise not all content allows for the use of your Trust npcs.
This is all rediscovery for me and I'm rather enjoying it, despite frustrations.
What's the easiest way to get a couple jobs from the late 90s to 99 now? I need to get SMN and SCH to 99 still.
And as far as DD desirability, I've got NIN, MNK, PUP. MNK > NIN & PUP as I understand it? Trying to figure out what would be best to gear up first. There's not much in the way of /shouts on Cerberus to go from.
All of those jobs are on the Taeon set, so for skirmish at least gearing one is gearing them all. Apparently with proper investment PUP is actually a good tank?
To get 99 just burn things in Ceziak or Yahse. Mandies are popular.
So, I gotta farm a good dark ring. I was wondering if it was ever figured out what amber light level was ideal for this. I remember capped was bad as you got too many big gold chests.
Yeah, capping it will result in a lot of KIs or temps. It's been a while since I've farmed items from gold chests, and never stayed too long, but I think people had suggested somewhere around the 120 range.
