New or Returning Players Discussion 2: SoA Homeless Veterans Edition

Question about some of the High Tiered fights. Was looking at items from them and there was some decent stuff from DM II, however does this require an alliance still to do this? Was just curious if you could get away with a party of 6.

iirc you can, but requires good coordination on some things (eg, a good healer, a good tank, likely sch/blm combo)

No worries. Thanks. Is that considering lower difficulty like Easy? Or is there only one difficulty in these alliance High level battles?

I remember doing it tank x2, whm x2 (or whatever healers), rng x3 (or however many you can throw in there) and as many buffers as possible. 1 pld supertanks them all while the 2nd pld brings them over 1 at a time to the rng brigade.

This was over 2 years ago however, when kyudogi was actually sought after. You'd prob want someone to supertank them still, but you can prob burn them down with whatever if you do it on the easier difficulties. Also the rng setup was on difficult, because vd took too long for us at the time.

Also I remembered magic damage was quite bad on all the high tier AA. If it did great I'd have sc/mb them, but I don't think it was that fast.

Just here for the free campaign. Mnk still sucks and prime time at my server had 350 players on (including mules etc.), so I don't think I'll be making a return.

That said, is the new SoA quest(s) soloable? Arciela is my favorite and if I can do/finish up that story before my time is up, that'd be awesome

You can do a lot of them solo with trusts. Might need help with the odd fight.

If youre targeting an earring, you can always kill that mob, as the loot is on a per AA basis

Changing to Asura would be best if you care about population numbers. Regularly 1k+ online and 1,500 recently with the campaign. MNK can still be used in a lot of melee friendly events but yeah it isn't the best dmg wise.

MNK is surprisingly low in damage compared to pretty much all other DD jobs. The bad JobPoints and Gift altro contribute to that end sadly.
H2H WS damage is nothing spectacular.

Things got a bit better recently with the addition of "Smite" but MNK is still in a very bad situation. Not sure if it's the worst DD atm, but if it isn't it's probably the second next

Just chatting w/ some old friends and looking towards Arciela since she's my favorite while I'm here. Then back to other stuff. I haven't found another similar/comparable mmo that I don't mind playing, but hey, maybe that's a good thing. XI got over a third of my life into it lol

If you lower the difficulty definitely could do it with a party. There's a vid of a couple people duoing it on Normal.

Just came back after 7 years. What's a good trust combo for leveling 75-99? Can I burn everything with DD and support or do I need a classic setup with a tank and healer etc?

I go with a tank, healer (Apururu Unity dude), brd and then rest DDs. Usually go with Zeid for one of them.

id chose RNG trusts if you can, because quite a few mobs youll want to xp on are piercing weak. If you can get your hands on Semih she's a total beast.

Looks like max settings with 60 FPS(can use the windower plugin for that). I have that too but since I multi-box my PC isn't as fast. You would have to go into regeddit to make it max settings, probably the old guides on google work.

Can anyone point me at a guide to the changes to elemental magic? I was last nuking back when all you really seemed to cast was thunder and blizzard.

In terms of trusts, I actually don't think that many of them are that great compared to those you get through the RoE tutorial and Rhapsodies. Mayakov is useful in dynamis for proccing (so is Uka)and more widely. I'm picking up all of them but if you have done a bunch of missions previously, picking up Gessho from ToAU is a good idea.

Doing the whole Unity thing is good, I joined Apupupuru (too many pu's there) and she's a great healer but then I also found Karaha/Cherukki pretty decent. Grabbing the rarer GEO ones might be a plan (the accuracy one helped me skill up). Zeid stuns so could be useful. Having one of the THF for TH maybe? I'm grabbing all of them as they can all help but in general the trusts I'm using a lot (I had logged in during a previous trust campaign) are Tenzen (although Ayame might be better for sc with yourself), Tenzen II, , Koru-Moru, Joachim, Sehlteus, Arciela II, Apururu. I quite like Vaileneral (sp) or Gessho for tanking. Finding more and more use for sc+mb to take chunks off mobs I'm only just about high enough to take on.

I'm happy to take advice from other people about good skillchaining trusts. I'd really like Qultada and Kupofried but no way for me to get them right now.

Gessho is from doing ToAU missions up to a certain point.
