MNK is also a nice one to have in the case of abyssea since it can cover all the blunt blue procs save for hexa strike. There are a few blue proc items still worth getting like twilight armor and Epona's ring.

Hey all, I'm really at a loss here. It seems when I try to build azure I am getting only 5 per kill, yet my friends are getting capped way quicker than me and we can't figure out why. I have checked the abyssite list and the abyssea guide and I'm not seeing anything about building azure quicker either. Is there something that I am completely looking over or missing that is making me build it so slow compared to others?
I have all the abyssite you can buy from NPC's, and whichever ones you get from killing 5/9 zmb.
building up azure also depends hugely on what mob you fight. Some give more azure some give more rube and some give more amber here is a list:

hope that helps
I haven't played since about a year ago (it was a little before the new Nyzul shit came out). Could some people offer like a roundup of how the content of the last year has panned out, and what it's impact has been on the gameplay? I have kept up on the actual content of the updates and news etc, but I'm not up to date on whether or not any of it was good.
For example is Meeble Burrows worth doing? Did Nyzul and Salvage turn out any good? Did raising the level cap on synthing matter or is synthing still pointless because everything comes from Abyssea/VWNM?
Sorry, I will hit this in the linked wiki guide when I sober up a little.
Salvage2 gear is pretty good on the whole, its just a stupid grind. NNI by far the best gear for the time you need to sink into it. Meebles has amazing pieces as well just for doing them well (Letalis Mantle and Nemetoma cap for example). Crafting is still significant (-WW) for the new -1 pieces of which some are easily best in slot for respective magic/abilities.
Let's not oversell the health of crafting. There are a couple wtf awesome pieces (Tenryu Tekko +1, Khepri Jacket, Huginn Gambieras, mayyyyyyyyyyybe Iaso Mitra), but the augment system ensures the nq are considered shit - tier.
I'm hoping Seekers brings some new recipes and more availability of mats. I've been collecting Serica Cloth whenever I can since the new year and still only have like 49. At that rate it will take me all of 2013 to hit 110 cloth.
What's the best job to get back into the game with? My end goal is to gear up a warrior, I was thinking leveling a whm while building up gear for war. Or is it possible to just be a gimp war while I gear up?
WHM would be really easy to get gear for your war on, I'd probably go with that. I'd say sch for nyzul gear, but that's likely going to be gimped on update.
Just started up again. Is bahamut a good server...? That's the one I chose. I'm dualboxing it up to make things a tad bit easier/faster. If any other new people wanna do crap together, lemme know. My dudes are Chuggs and Shanook. Support job quest soon! woooo
Played off and on during 80/85/90 caps, I'm guessing I should start by setting up the VW content? At least the timers/stones
The music gives me all these feels
I have a 90 blm, Sam and Nin; no idea what I should tackle next
Work on capping your jobs first. It's not going to take very long and that leaves you some options. BLM is good for procs in any VW run so make sure you have all the relevant spells. Check BG wiki for the best guide to VW. SAM would be a good idea if you want to get into NNI. If you have the patience and haven't done it already the SAM empyrean weapon is fairly easy to make in comparison to others. NIN outside of Abyssea isn't quite as popular as it was but it's still useful for some things.
Ok so i decided to reactivate my account once i purchase my collectors edition. Last time i logged on i was on diabolos server so i'll have to transfer to siren. Not sure if i will need my SE id for that as i barely managed to remember my POL ID pass. SE was no help because i didnt have my email or old address. Anyway planning on reactivating the 28th, How is the population on this server if anyone knows? Will it be fairly easy to start back up? I quit around the 85 expansion so i think i had monk/pal/sam/blu and think i had one more at 85. I always prided myself on having above average gear so i'll see how it goes running around in my usukane trying to remember how to play. Lastly, Do stones continue to collect after you stopped playing, Or if not is there a cap to them?
Managed to get my SE ID pass reset by remembering the email.
Many of your other questions are mentioned within this thread, and since it's not very large, I recommend reading all the way through. At the very least, the last several pages should satisfy your curiosities.
Beyond that, you can study server populations here: http://www.ffxiah.com/database
Thanks for all of the info provided in this thread. I resubbed on a whim while thinking about how much time I'd have until XIV's launch, and I'd already gone through TOR and TERA during prior downtime. I quit at 85 and thought I was further behind than I actually am until I joined some Abyssea experience PUGs and realized that everything's the same as far as random scrubs go.
Julian, takethistoyourgrave, are you guys still playing on Odin? That's where I am, and I plan on hitting 99 WAR by tomorrow, then it'll be atma/abyssite-collecting, gear-farming, catching up on my other jobs, etc.
Julian, sorry I never replied to your post! Somehow I just saw it for the first time.
Indeed I am still playing on Odin. My characters name is Shikkousha. I'm more or less done with Ninja stuff in Abyssea now, but I still need stuff for a bunch of other jobs and I always am down to kill stuff. Hit me up with a tell in game sometime and ill be happy to go do some hunting together.
Bout to hit lvl 60 on my dudes. reading up on abyssea is so overwhelming. guh. Crazy intimidated by it. tempted to just focus on the whm I'm leveling until I understand it and then go back to dualboxing.
