Is there any sort of guide for Reforging Artifact Armor? I didn't see one on BGWiki, nor in the upgrading thread. I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get the pages. I keep seeing old BCNM names being tossed about, but I'm guessing these are new fights with the new Sacred Kindred's Crests? How much does each orb cost?

Am I too late to the party on this?

Sadly that doesn't explain how SKCs work, how to get the pages, or anything beyond "Here's what's needed to upgrade".

To get the pages you need to do a SKCNM with 20 seals.

Go to said area with a decent setup (DDX3 BRD PLD WHM or DDX2 COR BRD PLD WHM) PLD super tanks all the mobs while the rest pick them off one at a time until you win. At the end of the fight everyone gets x amount of pages according to the difficulty you selected at start (Higher it is, the more pages you all get.) You also get a pool of items from the chest. When you have the pages (5 for +1, 10 for NQ) go to the npc in Port Jeuno next to Sagheera and she tells you what you need to upgrade.

Are returning players playing FFXI for free during the Return to Vana'diel campaign able to access the new expansion pack? I installed the Ultimate Seekers collection from the links on the POL campaign page, but I can only access content I paid for previously. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks!

I'm now assuming that it's not a free trial of "Seekers" Edition, just a the most up to date install, and two weeks of what you already have.

Now I wish I'd gotten the $10 SoA off amazon, ah well, hopefully it repeats during Christmas.

Yes, this is really annoying. Have gone on a huge break, only to have SE say you can have a whole 2 weeks free to check out the new SoA expansion, only to have the SoA expansion greyed out after downloading the ffxi launcher + the 3 data files. Can't access SoA content beacause the NPC in lower jeuno says it is not available at this time.

Well with the December update the game is finally playable for people looking for a fresh start with no connections/not bringing anyone with them. Getting to level 30 before the update wasn't bad but it comes to a painful dead stop after 30 since not many are searching for groups and solo is goddamn awful with everything taking so long to kill. Trust NPCs fixed that with a summonable party to exp with whenever you want. Fields of Valor and Eminence is also a very welcomed burst of EXP with extra benefits. Wide scan for every job makes FoV easier too since mob placement is generally awful.

Eminence is fun, the best part for new players is you can obtain weapons without worry for whatever job you're playing up to 50. Gearing up early on isn't bad since Treasure Caskets can mostly get you up, I don't know about the gear situation post 50 though. Getting gil isn't that bad now since you can Auction Crystals which accumulates a good amount of gil after a while and throwaway gear from casket can NPC for a lot.

Getting around was still a pain until this update too for new players, Home points have been updated so that you can teleport from point to point, it only cost 500gil to teleport anywhere you've visited besides teleporting within a city to another homepoint in that city which is free.

If anyone is thinking about giving the game a try for the first time or coming back and wanting a fresh start now is definitely the perfect time to be able to hop in and enjoy and experience a large portion of the game without problem after figuring out the flow of this game. Please try to find a updated beginner guide if you're new and don't know what to expect.

dunno if soloable, there is usually 4-6 mobs (on some cases more) around. normal mode can be triod by pld + DD + healer. As for solo, i am really in doubt. Why go solo when you can just fill up the a pt for normal mode? Everyone gets rewarded with chapters and you can get the main pool (shouldnt be hard to get people since everyone gets their personal lootpool chapters).

Normal mode is enough to shred a pack of randoms in oldschool gear. I did a ride-along with a group of folks in Aby +2 gear (I'm in Skirmish/Wildskeeper stuff). Both times the leader was dumb enough to pick "normal" and both times the rest of the PT wiped after killing only one on Divine Punishers.

If you're geared well enough to solo VE mode, you probably don't need much of what's in there anyway. It'd be more productive getting your pages with sparks/login points/subscriber rewards instead.

It is vastly different. Leveling is very simple, everyone has greater movement speed, there are many new forms of currency, and much more content that can be done low-man or solo.

For more details, I would recommend reading through the last few pages of this thread, and also reading all of the current discussions about the new mechanics added in the December update.

800-1500 depending on the day, focused mostly in Adoulin right now.

Between Records quests and a little smart play in Adoulin, you'll catch up fine. Dynamis is easy at this point, save for a few of the bigger bosses (mostly ones that use stuff you'd really need a pet job like BST for.). Nobody really goes in for large numbers there, you'll find the crowds in Wildskeeper Reives in Adoulin or Delve.

So much stuff changed since 2008. I made a new char in 2011 and got boosted to level 95 NIN and a few AF3. got a couple questions

Whats the best job for soloing content now? is it still worth going to abyssea for AF3? how exactly did they change 21-24 hour NMs? I fought bloodtear baldurf three fucking times trying to get Lumbering lamburt for koruri. Also, is the Kannagi even worth pursuing at this point?

is dynamis soloable for reasonable amounts of currency?

and is there still a level cap on BCNMs?

they lowered NM repop timers, if 21-24 hours NMs were effected nooen knows because olde NMs basicly are useless with their drops (ecxept maybe the brown belt ones)

dont bother with kannagi, just unlock empyrean WSs via a quest in WoE by turning in a 99 Walk of Echoes weapon.

as for the solo content question: depends what you want to solo, but in general anything with illvl 115 stuff or so can solo pretty much anything that was at lvl 99 below (with the exeption of som Voidwatch fights and other fights).

So with the last couple updates offering much boosted item levels and such...how hard is ADL these days? I'm stuck with a 95 relic and was wondering just how low-man I can get some umbrals to get the upgrade going.
