If youve capped all your merit categories, then nope, Ive often had all KI and ran around with 45 merits

Anyone have any 2015 input on getting FFXI to run on a Mac? I've found some guides using something called wine but these are years old and I'm not sure if they still apply.

you need to download bootcamp, with a windows (i use 7) disc and install it and create a partition. then youll have a windows side and a mac side, which is what i used to play this game on for years.

Just returned this weekend. I quit back VW was starting to die down I think, before SoA and w/e new content was released back then. My character was used as a mule, so it did get some stuff all the time I was gone(some Salvage II stuff, some KI's for AA fights etc..) but nothing to do with SoA. I bought SoA and have just been running around trying to get the hang of shit, got my trusts, and just been dicking around killing fodder mobs in the areas I have access to.

Amongst my running around I've learned I need some watercrafting ki, and 2 others I believe, which I'll work on next time I'm on. I know I need to get passed 1-6 or something to have access to Reive, so was just wondering if there's an "easy" way to get my fame up enough to be done with this quest. All I know is that you get fame using impurataus(sp), but you only get like 1 every 360min? And you need to use at least 20 to get your fame up? That's how I understand it so far anyways.

I have Sam which is what'll I'll be focusing on for now, already done some of these Sacred Crest battlefields for Rem. Chapters, so I understand that now, upgraded my Amano to 119 and unlocked Fudo, and I'll work on upgrading Sam as I can.

Right now I'm just running around soloing shit(fodder mobs) for fun, gaining exp for ki's and CP to upgrade Sam. I find that just outside Adoulin it's all pretty weak and I run out of mobs, plus they don't really drop anything worth "farming" just for a little gil to get started off, so is their a place/mob that would be better for this? Also what's a nice acc/att food to use since my gear is prolly a bit outdated?

Anything else I should get to work on right away that I'll need or want access to? I have friends that'll give me a hand on most anything, 1000's of seals saved up if they can make me any gil, and I'll be reading through this thread, but it's 72 pages, so it'll take time lol

Also on a side note. I was given a link to Project Tako, dl'd and it was working fine, then I restarted my PC, and now when I try to load it up it won't load properly, I have the icon in my task bar, but when I click it, the program doesn't pop up, when I hover my mouse over it it shows that's it's there but won't let me view it, it's glitching somehow, and I haven't seen a forum for the program, so not sure what's causing it, any suggestions?

I'm back on Ragnarok but, I don't think I really know anyone there any more haha. I'm not entirely sure where to start! I have a bunch of jobs Lv99, but Seekers has been completely untouched.

When solo at lower lvls is it a good idea to fight ITs w/ trust npcs? Or am I risking death because they'll act like idiots?

Best to stick with T-VT to keep chains depending on how low a level you're talking about, and what kind of gear you have/ acc etc. Basically IT were never worth fighting in pts or otherwise at low levels because they took so long to kill.

So, some RL friends will be coming back after many years, just to enjoy the Adoulin storyline and the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel story.
Keep in mind we're talking about the sort of players who play exclusively without windower, mostly with a single job and a single subjob, with fixed gear save maybe a couple of macros, and haven't been playing for over 4+ years (before Abyssea).
I want to help them experience all that story content but I can't do miracles alone.
Some tricky questions since two of them will be returning with their old characters, but one will have to create a new account:

1) They have an SE account because they use it in FFXIV, but despite being european their FFXI used to be NA. Does this mean they will have to buy NA version of FFXI Ultimate Seekers edition?
2) Where can I find a guide with zones-to-go-to and GoV/FoV to activate? I'll try to convince them to leech from me into Abyssea, but knowing them they will demand to XP in party with me
3) Is the "Abyssea" campaign still active? Where you could Examine the Chest in Jeuno and receive 100k Cruor, 1 Lunar Abyssyte and some free atmas?
4) To maximize efficiency, which order should I follow to unlock things for them? I can think of the following stuff to unlock: RoEs, Unity, Job Limiter (lv99 required?), Trusts, Adoulin access, couple of KIs to be able to damage stuff in Reives (which ones?), and... uh, do they need some other basic KI in Adoulin to be able to do WKRs or other content? Say if I forgot something important.


I want to bring them to WKRs at least to get some 115 items and some bayld, then they can buy some Bayld Gear/Sparks gear, I probably buy a Priwen for the PLD-only guy and if I'm feeling lucky maybe I'll manage to bring them to a Skirmish Yorcia run or a few Delve1 run (could use some MB weapons/items I guess).
Are there any pre-requisite for them to join me in Delve and Alluvion Yorcia?

4) RoE they can and should unlock within minutes of starting game unity have to wait till theyve done 10 roe objectives fairly easy but should try do asap to get them earning point can use on capes or even nm you could even have them leech of Bouncing Bertha. Something i brought up in trust thread is you can also have them use accolades for warping around and getting to some areas a lot easier like Xarcard, Jungles near Kazham, Altep off the top of my head.

For Skirmish i dont think theres any requirements besides lvl and having access to the zone. For delve not sure if youve had to of killed the wkr for that area but you want to take them to wkr that means they need to work on assignments asap too for access to thoose.

Ooh need assignments to unlock WKRs? Or did you mean to reduce the price I guess you meant. What is the initial price now? I remember they reduced it a lot, plus during the WKR campaigns it's fixed at 5k Bayld, right?
Anyway I intend them to make use of assignment regardless since I want them to farm some bayld. Some of thise 117 armours will be useful for them, maybe more than the Sparks armours.
I'll try to pick the best gear for them when the time comes (since they're gonna end up perma-equipping whatever gear I choose, and those items should be better than ilevel 109 AF/relic/empy)

Didn't think to use Bouncing Bertha or other Unity low level NMs to make them level up, but I need them to farm some accolades on the way to that.
Guess they'll get plenty if I make them use RoEs the right way.
